The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball and rounders. Ballyheigue ( ), officially Ballyheige ( - meaning ''Settlement of Tadhg'') is a coastal village in County Kerry, Ireland. It is approximately north of Tralee on the R551. It is a scenic locale which forms part of the Wild Atlantic Way and has many miles of beaches that connect to Banna Strand to the south, and Kerry Head to the north. Kilgarvan GAA
Kilgarvan is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Kerry, Ireland. They play in the Intermediate Hurling Championship and Division 2 county league. Kilgarvan play football in Division 5 of the county league and in the Kenmare District Board championship and County Novice Championship. History The club was founded in 1889. It was one of the five founding clubs of competitive hurling in Kerry. In 1889 Kilgarvan was one of five clubs who competed in the first Kerry Senior Hurling Championship. Kilgarvan won three Kerry Senior Hurling Championship in 1953, 1956 and 1958. In 2007 Kilgarvan became the first Kerry club to win a Munster Hurling club game when they beat Caherline from Limerick in the Quarter-final of the Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship on a scoreline of 2-11 to 2-09. Crotta O'Neill's are a hurling club in the Kilflynn area of County Kerry, Ireland. The club is named after Maurice O'Neill, an Irish Republican. They play in the Kerry Senior Hurling Championship. History The Club have played in 19 Kerry Senior Hurling Championship finals winning 10, including a three in a row from 1943 to 1945 and a two in a row in 1950 and 1951. Kerry Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Kerry Intermediate Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition contested by mid-tier Kerry GAA clubs. Kilgarvan are the title holders (2022). Extra-time can be used to determine the winners of games. Honours The winners play in the Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship, such as Kilgarvan in 2018, and if successful there, can represent the province in the All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship. Unlike in other counties, the winning team is not automatically promoted to the senior grade after winning. Since Kerry has very few hurling clubs, many of the competing teams are second teams of clubs competing in the Kerry Senior Hurling Championship. Kilmoyley were also one of the current Munster finalists which they were in January 2022. They won that game to become the first Kerry club to a Munster intermediate title. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root.
