St. Anne's Church, Hong Kong
St. Anne's Church is a Roman Catholic church in Hong Kong. It is located at 1 Tung Tau Wan Rd, Stanley. It services mainly the Chinese, Filipinos, and expatriates that live in the area. The church was built in 1959. History In 1949, the Stanley Parish was established by the Hong Kong Diocese. The church had not existed at the time and the chapel of Discalcled Carmelite Convent was instead used for parish activities. The construction of St Anne's Church was announced in 1955 and construction was completed in 1959. On 18 December 1958, the church's corner stone was blessed and laid by Cardinal Gregorio Pietro Agagianian, Prefect of the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. Since 2019, St Anne's Church is now under the administration by the Friars of the Carmelite Order. Stephen Chow (bishop)
Stephen Chow Sau-yan, S.J. (, born 7 August 1959) is a Hong Kong prelate of the Catholic Church who has served as Bishop of Hong Kong since 2021. He was the provincial superior of the Chinese Province of the Society of Jesus from 2018 to 2021. Chow was promoted to cardinal by Pope Francis on 30 September 2023. Early life Chow was born in British Hong Kong on 7 August 1959. He studied psychology and philosophy at the University of Minnesota, obtaining a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Educational Psychology. He joined the Society of Jesus in 1984, completing his noviceship in 1986. He studied at the Milltown Institute of Theology and Philosophy in Dublin, earning a licenciate in philosophy in 1988. Gregorio Pietro XV Agagianian (; anglicized: ''Gregory Peter''; Western , ''Krikor Bedros ŽĒ. Aghajanian''; born Ghazaros Aghajanian, 15 September 1895 – 16 May 1971) was an Armenian cardinal of the Catholic Church. He was the head of the Armenian Catholic Church (as Patriarch of Cilicia) from 1937 to 1962 and supervised the Catholic Church's missionary work for more than a decade, until his retirement in 1970. He was considered ''papabile'' on two occasions, in 1958 and 1963.
