The Sri Lankan cricket team toured Bangladesh for cricket matches during the 2005–06 season. The Sri Lankans rested many senior players on this tour, like Chaminda Vaas, Muttiah Muralitharan (Muttiah was only left out of the ODI squad) and the captain Marvan Attapatu. The role of the captain for this series was taken over by Mahela Jayawardene. Mahela Jayawardene
Denagamage Praboth Mahela de Silva Jayawardene ( si, දෙනගමගේ ප්රබෝත් මහේල ද සිල්වා ජයවර්ධන; born 27 May 1977) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who is the current consultant coach of the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team and the Head Coach of the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians. He is the most successful captain for Sri Lanka along with Sanath Jayasuriya. During the time of his captaincy, he was known mainly for his tactical acumen for decades and was rewarded for his captaincy instincts. Khaled Mahmud Sujon (born 26 July 1971) is a former Bangladeshi cricketer and a former Test and One Day International captain. A medium-pace bowler and middle-order batsman, he played international cricket for Bangladesh from 1998 to 2006, captaining the team from 2003 to 2004. Sajeewa Weerakoon (born 17 February 1978), is a former Sri Lankan One Day International cricketer. He is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. Domestic career He has played for Burgher Recreation Club and Galle Cricket Club in domestic cricket. Thilan Thusara Samaraweera ( si, තිලාන් සමරවීර; born 22 September 1976) is a former Sri Lankan international cricketer. Samaraweera played international cricket for Sri Lanka. Known as Sri Lanka's crisis man and for his slow strike rate, He is also nicknamed “Bullet Samaraweera" following his wounding during the 2009 terror attack on his national team bus in Pakistan. Kariyawasam Tirana Gamage Dhammika Prasad ( si, ධම්මික ප්රසාද්; born 30 May 1983), or simply Dhammika Prasad, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer, and current bowling coach of the Nepal national cricket team.
