Sri Lankan Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year
School Cricketers Of The Year Award is an award given to school cricketers in Sri Lanka. It was first awarded by the patronage of Warner-Hudunut Ltd in 1978 and ''The Sunday Observer'' newspaper by Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited has been sponsoring the award since 1979 in collaboration with other companies such as Mobitel (Sri Lanka), Bata Shoes, and Warner-Hudnut. So far seven players have been able to win the award twice. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Muthumudalige Pushpakumara (born 26 September 1981) is a Sri Lankan cricket coach and former international player. A left-handed batsman and right-arm off break bowler, he played three One Day International (ODI) and one Twenty20 International (T20I) matches for the Sri Lanka national cricket team between 2009 and 2010. Early life Pushpakumara studied at Ananda College, Colombo. Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya, established in 1942 on land owned by Anagarika Dharmapala, is the largest mixed school in Sri Lanka with about 8000 students and 600 academic staff. Modara Muthugalage Don Nimesh Randika Gayan Perera (born September 5, 1977, in Colombo) is a Sri Lankan first-class cricketer. A genuine all-rounder, Perera is an aggressive left-handed middle to lower order batsman and a leg spin bowler. After making his first-class debut in 1995/96, Perera captained the Sri Lankan Under-19 side in a three-Test series against India the following season.
