Spring (season)
Spring, also known as springtime, is one of the four temperate seasons, succeeding winter and preceding summer. There are various technical definitions of spring, but local usage of the term varies according to local climate, cultures and customs. When it is spring in the Northern Hemisphere, it is autumn in the Southern Hemisphere and vice versa. At the spring (or vernal) equinox, days and nights are approximately twelve hours long, with daytime length increasing and nighttime length decreasing as the season progresses until the Summer Solstice in June (Northern Hemisphere) and December (Southern Hemisphere). Spring and "springtime" refer to the season, and also to ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth. Subtropical and tropical areas have climates better described in terms of other seasons, e.g. dry or wet, monsoonal or cyclonic. Cultures may have local names for seasons which have little equivalence to the terms originating in Europe. Meteoro ...

Springtime (Freakwater Album)
''Springtime'' is an album by the American alternative country band Freakwater, released in 1998. It was the band's fifth album. ''Springtime'' had sold less than 8,000 copies in the year and a half after its release. Production The album was delayed while the band contemplated signing with E-Squared Records, a label founded by Steve Earle. Freakwater decided to return to Thrill Jockey after deciding that Earle wanted too much artistic control over the album; Earle claimed that the band backed away for financial reasons. The former Wilco multi-instrumentalist Max Johnston played on the album, joining longtime members Janet Beveridge Bean, Catherine Ann Irwin, and Dave Gay. Produced by Brendan Burke and the band, ''Springtime'' was the first Freakwater album made up of entirely original songs. The song "Louisville Lip" is about Muhammad Ali allegedly throwing his Olympic gold medal into the Ohio River after being denied service at a dining establishment. Critical reception ''The ...

A Rock Opera In Three Acts
A, or a, is the first letter and the first vowel of the Latin alphabet, used in the modern English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and others worldwide. Its name in English is ''a'' (pronounced ), plural ''aes''. It is similar in shape to the Ancient Greek letter alpha, from which it derives. The uppercase version consists of the two slanting sides of a triangle, crossed in the middle by a horizontal bar. The lowercase version can be written in two forms: the double-storey a and single-storey ɑ. The latter is commonly used in handwriting and fonts based on it, especially fonts intended to be read by children, and is also found in italic type. In English grammar, " a", and its variant " an", are indefinite articles. History The earliest certain ancestor of "A" is aleph (also written 'aleph), the first letter of the Phoenician alphabet, which consisted entirely of consonants (for that reason, it is also called an abjad to distinguish ...

Recorded over 15 days at Liddiard's home studio in Nagambie, the largely-improvised album features lyrics from his uncle Ian Duhig, in addition to a Will Oldham cover and a reworking of a track by The Drones. It was released in Australia through TFS Records and in the US through Joyful Noise Recordings to largely positive reviews. At the 2022 ARIA Music Awards, the album was nominated for ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album. Background Springtime was conceived in early 2021 during the COVID-19 lockdown in Australia, shortly after Liddiard had finished recording Tropical Fuck Storm's third album '' Deep States''. Springtime (guitar)
The Springtime is an experimental electric guitar with seven strings and three outputs. The instrument was created in 2008 by Dutch luthier Yuri Landman for guitar player Laura-Mary Carter of Blood Red Shoes. Technical information The string set up of the guitar is 1 bass string, 3 wound guitar strings for the chords and a cluster of 3 unwound strings tuned off-key unison, causing a rapid vibrating tone. Each group of strings has its own individual output for three amplifiers to preserve tonal interference. The sound simulates three musicians at once; a bass player, a rhythm guitarist and a solo guitarist or a Greek electric bouzouki. The instrument also is fitted with a so-called tailed bridge (as on a Fender Jaguar) to increase overtone possibilities. The electronics contain switches to change the 3-way system to stereo or mono if fewer amplifiers are available. Landman handed over his prototype to Carter before their sold out gig on May 19, 2008 in the venue Doornroosje in ...
