''Spring of Life'' (Spanish: ''Primavera de la vida'', Swedish: ''Livets vår'') is 1957 Argentine-Swedish drama film directed by Arne Mattsson and starring Nicole Berger, Folke Sundquist and Pedro Laxalt. It was shot in studios in Buenos Aires and on location in the region. The film's sets were designed by the art director Gori Muñoz. The film tried to exploit the success of Mattson's earlier film ''One Summer of Happiness'' which had also starred Sundquist.Soila p.117 Synopsis Young couple Elisa Fernandez and Marcelo are in love, but she is distressed that he is going away to Buenos Aires to study. Her strict father opposes their relationship, but Marcelo tries to find a way in order to raise the money so that she can come to the city with him. Arne Mattsson
Arne Mattsson (2 December 1919 – 28 June 1995) was a Swedish film director. Biography Born in Uppsala, the early films of Mattsson were mostly comedies. His biggest success was '' Hon dansade en sommar'' (1951, aka. ''One Summer of Happiness''), which earned him the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival and a nomination for the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1952. It caused some controversy at the time because it contained nudity. His 1953 film of Peder Sjögren's second novel, ''Bread of Love'' (''Kärlekens bröd''), based on Sjögren's experiences as a volunteer in the Finnish Continuation War of 1941–44 angered the author, was banned in Finland and incurred the wrath of the Soviets at the Cannes Film Festival. In spite of all this, Sjögren grudgingly admitted that as a study of men under severe pressure it was impressive. Alita Blanca Barchigia (24 August 1912 – 15 April 1989), better known as Alita Román, was an Argentine film actress of the Golden Age of Argentine Cinema (1940–1960).
