Sprague, Manitoba
Sprague is a community within the Rural Municipality of Piney in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is named after D.E. Sprague, a prominent Winnipeg lumber merchant. The community is located in the extreme southeast corner of the province near the Canada–United States border (Warroad–Sprague Border Crossing), at the junction of Manitoba Highway 12 and Provincial Road 308. The nearest major centres include Warroad and Thief River Falls, Minnesota; Fort Frances, Ontario; and Steinbach, Manitoba. Climate Sprague has a humid continental climate (Köppen ''Dfb'') with strong seasonal swings. Although winters are very cold, snowfall is normally not excessive compared to areas further east. Burr Sprague
Burr Sprague (April 30, 1836 – April 17, 1917) was an American lawyer and politician. Born in Perrysburg, New York, Sprague moved to Wisconsin in 1848 and lived in the town of Spring Valley, Rock County, Wisconsin and then Brodhead, Wisconsin. He was a lawyer and was the editor and publisher of the ''Brodhead Independent Observer''. Sprague also served as postmaster of Orfordville and Brodhead, Wisconsin. He also served as judge of the Green County court and Brodhead superintendent of public schools. Frank Lee Sprague
Frank Lee Sprague (January 8, 1958 – September 2, 2018) was an American guitarist and composer. He wrote both songs and concert pieces, with his catalog numbering over 1000 works, including two string quartets, three symphonies, many chamber music compositions, and two operas. Sprague was born in Wichita Falls, Texas in January 1958. In 2004 he released an album of songs in the rock'n'roll style, called ''Merseybeat'', which featured guests Doug Fieger of The Knack and Big Jay McNeely. A sequel called ''Cavern'', whose title is often mistakenly considered as referring to the Liverpool club made famous in the 1960s by The Beatles and other Merseyside performers but is actually a reference to the title track, was released in 2005. Ernest Sprague
Ernest Marshall Sprague (October 20, 1865 – May 10, 1938) was an American football player, public official, and engineer. He was born in 1865 on a farm at Farmington, Michigan. He was the son of Lorenzo Sprague and Laura G. (Meade) Sprague. He enrolled at the University of Michigan where he played college football as a rusher for the 1886 Michigan Wolverines football team and as a left guard for the 1887 team. After graduating from Michigan in 1888, Sprague was an engineer with the Chicago & Northwestern Railway. He remained in that position until 1895. He next worked for the Milwaukee, Lake Shore & Western Railroad as a general inspector from approximately 1895 to 1897. His next position was with the Detroit Bridge & Iron Works. Erik Sprague (born June 12, 1972), known professionally as the Lizardman, is an American freak show and sideshow performer. He is best known for his body modification, including his sharpened teeth, full-body tattoo of green scales, bifurcated tongue, subdermal implants and green-inked lips. Early life Sprague was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and was a Ph.D. candidate at the University at Albany before beginning his transformation. Elmer Sprague (1924 – April 19, 2019) was a professor at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, where he taught philosophy for 44 years. He obtained a B.A. from the University of Nebraska, and a B.A. and D.Phil. from Oxford. He was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford (1948–51), and was the Paul Robert and Jean Shuman Hanna Professor of Philosophy at Hamline University (1987). Sir Edward Spragge (name also written as Spragg or Sprague) (circa 1620 – 21 August 1673) was an Irish-born English admiral of the Royal Navy. He was a fiery, brilliantly accomplished seaman who fought in many great actions after the restoration of King Charles II in 1660. Life Spragge was son of Lichfield Spragge of Roscommon, Ireland, by his wife Mary Legge (sister of William Legge), and grandson of John Spragge, who came to Ireland in the Elizabethan period.
