Sporting De Gijón (youth)
The Sporting de Gijón youth teams are integrated in the club's youth academy, developing players from childhood through to the integration of the best prospects into the adult teams. The final category within the youth structure is the ''Juvenil A'' under-18/19 team which represents the club in the top national competition. The successful graduates then usually move to the club's reserve team, Sporting de Gijón B which is also considered part of the cantera due to being a stage in progression towards the senior team, albeit competing in the adult league system. The academy is based at the club training complex, Escuela de Fútbol de Mareo, which is often the name used informally to refer to the system itself. Sociedad anónima deportiva ("Public limited sports company") is a special type of public limited company in Spain. The new legal status was introduced in 1990http://www.csd.gob.es/csd/asociaciones/6SAD/ (Spanish) to improve financial management and transparency in sports clubs. Abelardo Fernández
Abelardo Fernández Antuña (; born 19 April 1970), known simply as Abelardo as a player, is a Spanish former footballer who played as a central defender, currently a manager. A player with good heading and marking ability, he was also known for a distinctive bald head, a style which he adopted from a relatively young age. During his career he was almost exclusively associated with Sporting de Gijón and Barcelona, having amassed La Liga totals of 385 matches and 24 goals over 14 seasons, and also managed the former club for three years. Having won more than 50 caps for Spain in one full decade, Abelardo represented the nation in two World Cups and as many European Championships. Copa De Campeones Juvenil De Fútbol
The Copa de Campeones de Juvenil is the tournament created by the RFEF to determine the overall youth champion of Spain. Since the 2014–15 season, the winner of this competition will qualify for the UEFA Youth League. Liga Nacional Juvenil De Fútbol
The Liga Nacional Juvenil is the second level of the Spanish football league system for youth players 19 years old and under. It is administered by the RFEF and regional football federations. Currently the Liga Nacional has seventeen regional groups plus four groups from the autonomous region of the Canarias. Each Liga Nacional group has 16 to 18 teams with the winner (except for the 2nd or B teams) of each group promoted to the División de Honor and the last three placed teams are relegated to their respective regional group.
