Bangui () (or Bangî in Sango, formerly written Bangi in English) is the capital and largest city of the Central African Republic. It was established as a French outpost in 1889 and named after its location on the northern bank of the Ubangi River (french: Oubangui); the Ubangi itself was named from the Bobangi word for the "rapids" located beside the settlement, which marked the end of navigable water north from Brazzaville. The 1998 African Cup Winners' Cup was the twenty-fourth season of Africa's second oldest club football tournament organised by CAF. As before, the tournament was open to clubs that won their nation's premier domestic cup. Espérance of Tunisia won the cup after defeating Angola's Primeiro de Agosto 4-2 in a two-legged final. Lawrence Adjei-Okyere (born 23 March 1979) is a Ghanaian former Association football, footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Adjei started his footballing career at Obuasi Goldfields. He scored the only goal for Goldfields in the first leg of the 1997 CAF Champions League Final. He joined Russian team FC Spartak Moscow, Spartak Moscow in the summer of 2001.
