Sphinx (documentation Generator)
Sphinx is a documentation generator written and used by the Python community. It is written in Python, and also used in other environments. Purpose and function Sphinx converts reStructuredText files into HTML websites and other formats including PDF, EPub, Texinfo and man. reStructuredText is extensible, and Sphinx exploits its extensible nature through a number of extensions – for autogenerating documentation from source code, writing mathematical notation or highlighting source code, etc. HTML themes Sphinx provides the ability to apply themes to HTML and HTML-based formats. Sphinx has several built-in themes, including alabaster, classic, sphinxdoc, and scrolls. Popular themes that can be installed as Python modules include: * Read the Docs * Sphinx Bootstrap * Guzzle * Documatt History and use The first public release, version 0.1.61611, was announced on March 21, 2008. It was developed for, and is used extensively by, the Python project for documentation. ...

ReStructuredText
reStructuredText (RST, ReST, or reST) is a file format for textual data used primarily in the Python programming language community for technical documentation. It is part of the Docutils project of the Python Doc-SIG (Documentation Special Interest Group), aimed at creating a set of tools for Python similar to Javadoc for Java or Plain Old Documentation (POD) for Perl. Docutils can extract comments and information from Python programs, and format them into various forms of program documentation. In this sense, reStructuredText is a lightweight markup language designed to be both processable by documentation-processing software such as Docutils, and be easily readable by human programmers who are reading and writing Python source code. History reStructuredText evolved from an earlier lightweight markup language called StructuredText (developed by Zope). There were a number of problems with StructuredText, and reST was developed to address them. The name reStructuredText was c ...

Sphinx Python Documentation Logo
A sphinx ( ; , ; or sphinges ) is a mythical creature with the head of a human, the body of a lion, and the wings of an eagle. In Greek tradition, the sphinx is a treacherous and merciless being with the head of a woman, the haunches of a lion, and the wings of a bird. According to Greek myth, she challenges those who encounter her to answer a riddle, and kills and eats them when they fail to solve the riddle. This deadly version of a sphinx appears in the myth and drama of Oedipus. In Egyptian mythology, in contrast, the sphinx is typically depicted as a man (an androsphinx ()), and is seen as a benevolent representation of strength and ferocity, usually of a pharaoh. Unlike Greek or Levantine/Mesopotamian ones, Egyptian sphinxes were not winged. Both the Greek and Egyptian sphinxes were thought of as guardians, and statues of them often flank the entrances to temples. During the Renaissance, the sphinx enjoyed a major revival in European decorative art. During this perio ...

Commit (data Management)
In computer science and data management, a commit is a behavior that marks the end of a transaction and provides Atomicity (database systems), Atomicity, Consistency (database systems), Consistency, Isolation (database systems), Isolation, and Durability (database systems), Durability (ACID) in transactions. The submission records are stored in the submission Log file, log for recovery and consistency in case of failure. In terms of transactions, the opposite of committing is giving up tentative changes to the transaction, which is rolled back. Due to the rise of distributed computing and the need to ensure data consistency across multiple systems, commit protocols have been evolving since their emergence in the 1970s. The main developments include the Two-phase commit protocol, Two-Phase Commit (2PC) first proposed by Jim Gray (computer scientist), Jim Gray, which is the fundamental core of distributed transaction management. Subsequently, the Three-phase commit protocol, Three- ...

Pylons Project
Pylons Project is an open-source organization that develops a set of web application technologies written in Python. Initially the project was a single web framework called Pylons, but after the merger with the repoze.bfg framework under the new name Pyramid, the Pylons Project now consists of multiple related web application technologies. Pyramid Pyramid is an open source web framework written in Python and is based on WSGI. It is a minimalistic web framework inspired by Zope, Pylons and Django. Originally called "repoze.bfg", Pyramid gathered attention mostly in the Zope and Plone community as the Open Society Institute's KARL project migrated from Plone to BFG. In 2010 it was announced that the Pylons framework will move over to using BFG as a base in version 1.5. As a result of the inclusion of BFG into the Pylons project, BFG was renamed Pyramid. Features Pyramid is a minimalistic, platform-independent web framework. It is persistence agnostic and is integrated both ...

SageMath
SageMath (previously Sage or SAGE, "System for Algebra and Geometry Experimentation") is a computer algebra system (CAS) with features covering many aspects of mathematics, including algebra, combinatorics, graph theory, group theory, differentiable manifolds, numerical analysis, number theory, calculus, and statistics. The first version of SageMath was released on 24 February 2005 as free and open-source software under the terms of the GNU General Public License version 2, with the initial goals of creating an "open source alternative to Magma, Maple, Mathematica, and MATLAB". The originator and leader of the SageMath project, William Stein, was a mathematician at the University of Washington. SageMath uses a syntax resembling Python's, supporting procedural, functional, and object-oriented constructs. Development Stein realized when designing Sage that there were many open-source mathematics software packages already written in different languages, namely C, C++, ...
