Utah Olympic Oval
The Utah Olympic Oval is an indoor speed skating oval located southwest of Salt Lake City, in Kearns, Utah. The Oval was built for the 2002 Winter Olympics and it hosted the long track speed skating events for the 2002 games. Inside the facility the 400 meter skating track surrounds two international sized ice sheets, and is itself surrounded by a 442 meter running track. Dmitry Shepel
Dmitry Sergeyevich Shepel (russian: Дмитрий Сергеевич Шепель); born 8 August 1977) is a retired Russian speedskater. He became the World Junior Champion in 1998 in Roseville, Minnesota. The same year he set a junior world record on the 1,500 meters, skating that distance in 1:50,45 in Calgary. Shepel had his major success in 2001, when on the high-altitude ice rink of Baselga di Pinè in Italy he became European champion, breaking the hegemony of skaters from the Netherlands who otherwise won every event from 1992 to 2005. He participated at the Olympic Winter Games in 1998, 2002 and 2006. His most successful efforts were in 2002 in Salt Lake City, with a 4th place at the 5,000 meters and a 6th place at the 10,000 meters. Mark Knoll (born July 26, 1976) is a Canadian former speed skater and schoolteacher. He twice took part in the Winter Olympic Games. Enrico Fabris (born 5 October 1981) is an Italian former long track speed skater who has won three World Cup races and became the first European Allround Champion from Italy when he won the 2006 European Championships one month before the Winter Olympics in Turin. Lasse Sætre (born 10 March 1974) is a former speed skater from Norway, who for several years was among the world's best long distance skaters. Sætre who grew up in Nord-Odal competed in the 1998, 2002 and 2006 Olympics, and won a 10,000-m bronze in the 2002 Winter Olympics. He won another 10,000-m bronze in the 2003 World Single Distance Championships.
