L'Anneau de Vitesse ( en, The Speed Circuit) is an outdoor speed skating venue located in Grenoble, France. It hosted the speed skating events for the 1968 Winter Olympics. Mihaela Dascălu (born 12 February 1970) is a retired Romanian speed skater, and the most successful speed skater from that country. Biography Dascălu was born in the city of Braşov, and first trained as a figure skater before changing to speed skating. She debuted at the 1987 World Junior Championships, where she finished seventh. The following year she finished ninth, but was later disqualified for doping use along with her teammate Cerasela Hordobețiu, making it impossible for her to make the 1988 Winter Olympics at Calgary. She returned to the international scene in 1991, and finished sixth in the 1000 meter during the 1992 Winter Olympics, the best Romanian Olympic speed skating finish of all time. Edel Therese Høiseth (born 27 January 1966) is a former speed skater from Norway, who specialised in the shorter distances; the 500 m and 1,000 m. Høiseth skated in all Winter Olympics from 1984 to 1998, making her one of only three Norwegians to have participated in as many as five Winter Olympics (the other two being Oddvar Brå and Petter Thoresen). Her best Olympic result is an eighth place on the 500 m at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
