Souviens-toi Du Jour
"Souviens-toi du jour" (English: "Remember the Day") is a 1999 song recorded by French singer-songwriter Mylène Farmer. It was the third single from her fifth studio album ''Innamoramento'' and was released on 2 September 1999. Inspired by Primo Levi's book ''If This Is a Man'', the song deals with the theme of the Holocaust. The song is perhaps best remembered for its controversial music video, which was generally viewed as disrespectful towards its own subject matter. Background, writing and release Initially, Farmer wanted to release the ballad "Et si vieillir m'était conté" as third single from the album ''Innamoramento''. However, although promotional plans were already made, she changed her mind and preferred to release "Souviens-toi du jour", as her record label Universal wanted to market a rhythmic single to obtain higher sales than that of the previous single, "Je te rends ton amour". Chuberre, 2008, pp. 212–13. The song was much broadcast on radio, reaching a peak ...

Comme J'ai Mal
"Comme j'ai mal" (English: "How Much I Suffer") is a 1996 song recorded by French singer-songwriter Mylène Farmer. Fourth single from her fourth album '' Anamorphosée'', it was released on 1 July 1996. It was a relative failure: indeed, it failed to reach the top ten in France and was the least-selling single from the album. Background In June 1996, Farmer continued her concert tour through France that she had begun on 25 May, while her fourth studio album '' Anamorphosée'' was a success despite a lack of promotion. However, on 15 June, the singer fell at her concert in Lyon and broke her wrist, forcing her to stop her tour. To make her fans wait, the release of "Comme j'ai mal", initially scheduled for August, was delayed to July, although no music video was shot then. The three official remixes available on the various formats were produced by Laurent Boutonnat and Bertrand Châtenet. As the previous single "California", a CD maxi was released in Germany. The song was later i ...

It was the second single from her fourth album '' Anamorphosée'' and was released on 12 December 1995. Directed by Marcus Nispel in New York, the music video humorously depicts the apocalypse and shows Farmer bathing in foam. The song became the biggest hit from the album, reaching number six in France. In January 2004, the song was the subject of a remix produced by One-T and was released as promotional single. Backgroung and writing After the mixed success of her single "XXL" and the relatively poor chart performances of the ''Anamorphosée'' album, Farmer decided to release a second single, "L'Instant X", for the Christmas period. The song's title comes from an expression in the first verse. The chorus is a callback to Tino Rossi's Christmas song "Petit Papa Noël", as in the lyrics Farmer scans, in jerky syllabes, "Papa Noël, quand tu descendras du ciel...", which are also t ...

XXL (Mylène Farmer Song)
"XXL" is a 1995 song recorded by French singer-songwriter Mylène Farmer. The song was the lead single from her fourth studio album '' Anamorphosée'' and was released on 19 September 1995. It marked an important change in the singer's career, with more pronounced ''variété'' sonorities, more accessible lyrics, and a music video directed by a new producer. Although it entered directly at number one on the French singles chart, it dropped quickly and achieved mixed success. Background and writing After the failure of Laurent Boutonnat's film ''Giorgino'' in 1993, in which she played, Farmer decided to move to Los Angeles, willing to return to anonymity. In 1995, she found the inspiration to write new songs by reading various books, including ''La Mort intime'' by French author Marie de Hennezel, and ''The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying''. She then asked Laurent Boutonnat to join her in California to produce together a new album, which would become '' Anamorphosée''. However, ...
