Southside (Lloyd Song)
"Southside" is the debut single from American R&B singer Lloyd and features Ashanti. It was written by T. Hale, W. Morris, Tab and by producer Jimi Kendrix for his debut studio album, ''Southside'' (2004). It peaked at number 13 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot R&B Songs chart, and peaked at number 24 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The remix featured rapper Scarface and Ashanti. The remix was released as the third and final single from the album. Music video The video was released in June 2004. The standard version was filmed in a narrative fashion, with Irv Gotti playing Lloyd's fancy-car-driving father figure and Ashanti as his love interest whom he courts cellularly. Lloyd Polite Jr. (born January 3, 1986), is an American R&B singer. Born in New Orleans and raised in Decatur, he initially began his musical career as a member of the preteen-boy band N-Toon. The band disbanded in 2001 and Polite embarked on a solo career in 2003. He subsequently signed a record deal with American music executive Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. Records, under the aegis of Def Jam Recordings. In 2004, Polite released his solo debut single "Southside" (featuring Ashanti), the title-track from his debut album, ''Southside'' (2004). It started as an independent trade from 1973 to 2006 until VNU Media took over in 2006 and became a relaunched sister trade to '' Billboard'', until its final issue in 2009. Murder, Inc. (Murder, Incorporated) was an organized crime group, active from 1929 to 1941, that acted as the enforcement arm of the National Crime Syndicatea closely connected criminal organization that included the Italian-American Mafia, the Jewish Mob, and other criminal organizations in New York City and elsewhere. Urban contemporary music, also known as urban music, hip hop, urban pop, or just simply urban, is a music radio format. The term was coined by New York radio DJ Frankie Crocker in the early to mid-1970s as a synonym for Black music. Urban contemporary radio stations feature a playlist made up entirely of Black genres such as R&B, pop-rap, quiet storm, urban adult contemporary, hip hop, Latin music such as Latin pop, Chicano R&B and Chicano rap, and Caribbean music such as reggae and soca. Rhythmic contemporary, also known as Rhythmic Top 40, Rhythmic CHR or rhythmic crossover, is a primarily American music-radio format that includes a mix of EDM, upbeat rhythmic pop, hip hop and upbeat R&B hits.
