''Southern Sons'' is the self-titled debut album by Australian band Southern Sons. The album was released in Australia through Wheatley Records (best known as John Farnham's label) in June 1990 and reached number 5 on the ARIA charts. A total of 4 singles were released from the album. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1991, the album was nominated for ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist – Album, but lost to ''Safety in Numbers'' by Margaret Urlich. Southern Sons
Southern Sons was an Australian rock band, formed in Melbourne, Victoria (Australia), Victoria in 1989 by members of The State (band), The State along with lead vocalist and guitarist Irwin Thomas, who was then using the stage name Jack Jones. They are best known for their Australian top ten hits "Heart in Danger", "Hold Me in Your Arms (Southern Sons song), Hold Me in Your Arms", and "You Were There (Southern Sons song), You Were There". David Hirschfelder (born 18 November 1960, Ballarat, Victoria) is an Australian musician, film score composer and performer. As a musician he has been a member of Little River Band and John Farnham Band. Bass (guitar)
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. Virgil Donati (born 22 October 1958) is an Australian drummer, composer and producer. He holds the drum sticks in the Traditional grip, traditional style and is also proficient at the Keyboard instrument, keyboard. Donati formed Planet X (band), Planet X with Derek Sherinian and was the band's principal composer on all their albums. Irwin Thomas (born Irwin Thomas Whittridge, 6 January 1971) is an American-born Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist.
