South Western Districts Women's Cricket Team
The South Western Districts women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for part of the South African province of Western Cape. They compete in the Women's Provincial Programme and the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition. History South Western Districts Women joined the South African domestic system ahead of the 2005–06 season, playing in the Women's Provincial League, in which they finished 6th in their group of 7 with one win from their twelve matches. They have competed in the tournament ever since, but have never reached the knockout stages. In the 2008–09 season, they won the B Section Group, but lost the promotion/relegation play-off to Eastern Province. In 2021–22, the side topped Pool A before beating Free State in a play-off to gain promotion to the Top 6 for the first time. Recreation Ground, Oudtshoorn
Recreation Ground is a cricket ground in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa. It is situated in the centre of the town, on Voortrekker Street. It is the headquarters of the South Western Districts Cricket Board. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1889, when South Western Districts hosted the touring R. G. Warton's XI from England. The Free State women's cricket team, previously known as Orange Free State women's cricket team, is the women's representative cricket team for the South African province of Free State. They compete in the Women's Provincial Programme and the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition. History The side first played as Orange Free State in the 1952–53 season of the Simon Trophy, losing in the final of the competition. As Free State, they first appeared in the 1996–97 season of the Women's Inter-Provincial Tournament, although the full results for the tournament are unrecorded. South Western Districts, known as SW Districts or SWD, is a South African first class cricket team based in the Western Cape city of Oudtshoorn, representing approximately the eastern half of Western Cape province. They form part of the Cape Cobras franchise, and play their home games at the Oudtshoorn Recreation Ground. Playing history South Western Districts played their inaugural first-class match in the Currie Cup in 1904 at Mossel Bay against Western Province but did not play another first-class match for 102 years. The South Western Districts Cricket Board was granted associate status by Cricket South Africa in 2004 and the team has taken part in the Provincial Three-Day Challenge and Provincial One-Day Challenge competitions since the 2006-07 season. Rebecca Louise Grundy (born 12 July 1990) is an English cricketer and coach, who played for her national cricket team and is now head coach of the Western Australia team. Grundy is a left-arm spin bowler. Playing career Grundy has played for Warwickshire. In 2014, Grundy was part of the England Academy squad. 2021–22 CSA Women's Provincial Programme
The 2021–22 CSA Women's Provincial Programme was the 26th edition of South Africa's provincial one-day cricket tournament. The tournament ran from October 2021 to April 2022, with 16 teams competing in three divisions. North West won the tournament, their fourth one day title. Competition format The 16 teams were divided into three divisions: a top division named "Top 6", and two lower divisions, Pools A and B. Teams in Pools A and B played each other team in their group once in a round-robin format, whilst teams in the Top 6 league played each other team in their group twice. The Eastern Province women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for parts of the South African region of Eastern Cape. They compete in the Women's Provincial Programme and the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition.
