South Carolina Gamecocks Men's Golf
The South Carolina Gamecocks men's golf team represents the University of South Carolina and competes in the Southeastern Conference in Division I of the NCAA. Major team victories include the 1964 ACC Championship, the 1991 Metro Conference Championship, and the 2007 NCAA West Regional Championship. The Gamecocks also had runner-up finishes in the 1968 ACC Championship; the 1984, 1986, 1988, 1989, and 1990 Metro Conference Championships; and the 1998, 2008, 2013, and 2015 SEC Championships. Under the guidance of head coach Bill McDonald, the South Carolina men's golf program has won or shared 21 tournament titles and made seven NCAA championship appearances. Last season the Gamecocks finished ninth at the NCAA Championship and matched the school record of nine top-five finishes in 12 events, including three tournament wins. Eirik Tage Johansen
Eirik Tage Johansen (born 23 May 1982) is a Norwegian professional golfer. Johansen was born in the United States, and returned to the country of his birth as a successful amateur golfer, taking up a golf scholarship at the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the golf team. After graduating in 2006, he turned professional, and immediately won a place on the European Tour after advancing through qualifying school. After a disappointing first season, he dropped down to the second-tier Challenge Tour for 2008, but was once again successful at qualifying school at the end of that season. Johansen has retained his place on the European Tour from 2009 to 2011, although he had to return to qualifying school every year. Johansen also has four wins on the Scandinavian Nordic Golf League; the first of these was while still an amateur. El Bosque Mexico Championship
The Mexico Championship is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It was first played in May 2013 at the El Bosque Country Club in León, Mexico. The Mexican Open had been a Web.com Tour event from 2008 to 2012, and was played at El Bosque the last four of these years. The Chitimacha Louisiana Open was a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour from 1992 to 2022. RBC Heritage
The RBC Heritage, known for much of its history as the Heritage Classic or simply the Heritage, is a PGA Tour event in South Carolina, first played in 1969. It is currently played in mid-April, the week after The Masters in Augusta, Georgia. The venue for its entire existence has been the Harbour Town Golf Links at the Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island. The Harbour Town course, which frequently appears on several "Best Courses" lists, was designed by famed golf course architect Pete Dye, with assistance from Jack Nicklaus. In 1972, the first two rounds were played on both the Harbour Town Golf Links and the Ocean course at Sea Pines, with the final two rounds at Harbour Town. The BMW Charity Pro-Am is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It is currently played at Thornblade Club (host course) in Greer, South Carolina and The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The Madeira Islands Open was a men's professional golf tournament on the European Tour played from 1993 to 2015 on Madeira, an autonomous region of Portugal. History The tournament had one of the smallest prize funds on the tour (€600,000 in 2015), and few of the tour's top players took part. From 2002 to 2005, and again from 2011 to 2015, it was a dual-ranking event with the Challenge Tour. It was played opposite the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2011 and 2013. James Morrison (golfer)
James Ian Morrison (born 24 January 1985) is an English professional golfer. Early life Morrison attended Reed's School. He played in the same England youth cricket teams as Alastair Cook, Ravi Bopara and Tim Bresnan, with whom he remains friends. Amateur career At the age of 16, he switched to golf and his handicap fell from 18 to scratch in less than a year. He subsequently accepted a scholarship to the University of South Carolina. Florian Fritsch
Florian Fritsch (born 29 October 1985) is a German professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. Career Fritsch was born in Munich, Germany, and attended the University of South Carolina in the United States, graduating in 2008. Fred Wadsworth
} Frederick Willi Wadsworth (born July 17, 1962) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and South Africa's Sunshine Tour. Wadsworth was born in Munich, Germany and grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. He attended the University of South Carolina. He turned professional in 1984. Wadsworth was a Monday qualifier who won a PGA Tour event, seven months after Kenny Knox did the same to win the Honda Classic. His victory came at the 1986 Southern Open when he shot a final round 67 to finish at 11-under-par 269 to win by two strokes over four other golfers. The victory gave Wadsworth a two-year exemption. Brett Quigley (born August 18, 1969) is an American professional golfer. He currently plays on the PGA Tour Champions, where he won the 2020 Morocco Champions. He was previously a member of the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour. Early life Brett Quigley was born on August 18, 1969 in Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He is the nephew of PGA Tour and Champions Tour golfer Dana Quigley.
