Verbena (band)
Verbena was an American rock band from Birmingham, Alabama, founded in the early 1990s by Scott Bondy, Anne Marie Griffin, Les Nuby, and Daniel Johnston. They released three albums, two of which were issued on Capitol Records. History The band was founded in the early 1990s by high school friends Scott Bondy (vocals, guitar) Les Nuby (guitar), Daniel (changed to "Duquette" post-Verbena) Johnston (bass) and Carson Lamm (Drums) with the name Volume. Anne Marie Griffin (additional vocals, guitar) replaced Nuby and the band Volume was renamed Shallow. Eventually, drummer Carson Lamm quit Shallow to play with the band Fuzzy Sons, and the original Remy Zero drummer Louis Schefano joined Shallow. Shallow released the songs "Lot" and "Always and Forever" on the compilation album ''Balkanize Now''. Setanta Records was a British independent record label led by founder Keith Cullen. Setanta published UK and Irish indie music in the late 1980s and in the 1990s. History Setanta Records was started in a Camberwell, London squat by former bicycle courier Keith Cullen. Their first success came when Dublin band Into Paradise received positive reviews from the British music press for their Setanta debut titled ''Under the Water''. Major label interest followed and Into Paradise subsequently signed to Ensign Records retaining Cullen as band manager. Shortly thereafter, Cullen signed the Cork trio the Frank and Walters, who wore orange shirts and purple flared trousers. As with Into Paradise, the band signed to Go! Auguste Arthur Bondy, also known as Scott Bondy and A. A. Bondy, is an American alternative folk artist from Birmingham, Alabama. Early life Bondy was born and raised in Mountain Brook, Alabama where he attended Mountain Brook High School. Career Bondy is the former lead singer and guitarist in the rock band Verbena, which he founded in the early-1990s. After the band broke up in 2003, he recorded his debut solo album, ''American Hearts'', in a barn near his home Palenville, New York. The album, released in 2007, marked a shift in musical direction towards a more traditional and minimalist folk sound, with Bondy playing mostly acoustic guitar and harmonica. Phil Thornalley
Philip Thornalley (born 5 January 1960) is an English songwriter-producer who has worked in the music industry since 1978. He is perhaps best known for co-writing (with Scott Cutler and Anne Preven) the song " Torn" (made famous by Natalie Imbruglia's cover version, which he also produced) and the UK number one hits " Mama Do" and " Boys and Girls" for Pixie Lott. He also produced The Cure's 1982 album ''Pornography'' and was later their bass player for eighteen months, producing and performing the distinctive double bass line on their 1983 single " The Love Cats". In 1988, Thornalley released his only solo album ''Swamp'' and briefly joined the band Johnny Hates Jazz. He then worked principally as a songwriter for hire for many acts including Bryan Adams.
