Niels Henry Sonne
Niels Henry Sonne (1907–1994) was a noted librarian, a rare book curator, and expert on the Gutenberg Bible. A native of New York City, he received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1930, and his doctorate in 1939. ''Liberal Kentucky'', originally written as Sonne's Ph.D. thesis, was published by Columbia University Press in 1939, and reprinted by the University Press of Kentucky in 1968. The book deals with the development of liberal thought in Kentucky and relates particularly to the growth of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. Sonne was employed for most of his career as a rare book librarian at the General Theological Seminary in New York City. Gutenberg Bible Sonne was an expert on the Gutenberg Bible's history and provenance. "A specialist on the Gutenberg Bible, Dr. iels H. RV Sonne
The RV'' Sonne'' (German for 'Sun') was a former German fishing trawler converted into a research vessel by Schichau Unterweser AG, doing mostly geoscience-related work for a variety of commercial and scientific clients. She was registered in Bremen. In 2015 she was sold to the Argentine institute CONICET and was renamed ARA ''Austral'' (Q-21). A new geoscientific research ship, also called RV ''Sonne'', replaced her role in Germany that same year. Career Rickmers Werft built ''Sonne'' in 1969 as a stern trawler and delivered her to ''Hochseefischerei Nordstern''. From her homeport of Bremerhaven she operated mainly in the waters around Iceland, Greenland and Labrador. Alma Sonne
Alma Sonne (March 5, 1884 – November 27, 1977) was a general authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1941 until his death. Sonne was born in Logan, Utah Territory. He graduated from Brigham Young College in Logan and entered the banking business. From 1910 to 1912, Sonne was a missionary for the LDS Church in England. He and seven other missionaries purchased tickets to travel back to America on the RMS ''Titanic'', but due to a situation with one of the missionaries, Sonne canceled all eight tickets. Sonne eventually became the president of the Cache Stake of the church. He worked as a banker. In 1941, Sonne became one of the first five individuals to hold the calling of Assistant to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in the LDS Church. Sonne was the president of the European Mission of the church from 1946 to 1950.

The RV'' Sonne'' (German language, German for ''Sun'') is a German deep ocean research vessel. The ship became available for science in December 2014 and it operates mainly in the Pacific and the Indian Oceans. She is registered in Wilhelmshaven and replaced its RV Sonne, predecessor of the same name. Sonne (German for "sun") was a radio navigation system developed in Germany during World War II. It was developed from an earlier experimental system known as ''Elektra'', and therefore the system is also known as Elektra-sonnen. When the British learned of the system they started using it as well, under the name Consol, meaning "by the sun". Elektra was an updated version of the beam-based low-frequency radio range (LFR) used in the United States during the 1930s. This was further modified to create Sonne by electronically rotating the signal to create a series of beams sweeping across the sky. Using simple timing of the signal, the navigator could determine the angle to the station. Two such measurements then provided a radio fix. Accuracy and range were excellent, with fixes around ¼ of a degree being possible at range. Isaiah Sonne
Isaiah Sonne, sometimes also Isaia Sonne, (1887–1960) was a Jewish historian and bibliographer. Born in Galicia in 1887, he was educated in Switzerland and Italy, spending much of his career in the latter country as a teacher at Jewish colleges. After the implementations of the Italian Racial Laws in 1938, Sonne migrated to the United States where he taught at the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, where he died in 1960. Sonne made considerable contributions to the ''Wissenschaft des Judentums''. Biography Sonne was born in Mościska, Galicia, then part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, on 26 February 1887 and was educated in Switzerland and Italy, receiving a Rabbinical degree there in 1925. Jørgen Valentin Sonne (24 June 1801 – 24 September 1890) was a Danish genre painter; known primarily for his battle scenes. Biography Jørgen Sonne was born at Birkerød. His father, Jeppe (1771–1833), was a copperplate engraver for the Royal Mint. His brother Carl Edvard Sonne (1804–1878) was a printmaker. Sonne originally intended to pursue a military career and enrolled at the Royal Danish Military Academy, but left after a year and attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts instead. Brett Sonne (born May 16, 1989) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. He is a former prospect of the St. Louis Blues organization, having been selected by the Blues in the third round, 85th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He is the 2009 recipient of the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as WHL player of the year.
