Songs For The Young At Heart
''Songs for the Young at Heart'' is a children's music album put together by Stuart A. Staples and Dave Boulter, both from the band Tindersticks. It features a number of classic children's songs, stories, and nursery rhymes set to music, and features vocals from a number of famous artists. Boulter states that the inspiration for the album came after the birth of his son, when: "I began thinking of songs and nursery rhymes from my own childhood to play to him. I realised there was a lot of interesting and almost forgotten music, from the school room, the radio, and the television, that maybe was the reason I'd begun to make my own music in the first place." Initial copies of the CD were accompanied by a hardback book containing artwork by Sexton Ming. Children's music or kids' music is music composed and performed for children. In European-influenced contexts this means music, usually songs, written specifically for a juvenile audience. Cerys Matthews (; born 11 April 1969) is a Welsh singer, songwriter, author, and broadcaster. Joseph Will Oldham (born January 15, 1970) is an American singer-songwriter and actor. From 1993 to 1997, he performed and recorded in collaboration with dozens of other musicians under variations of Palace (Palace, Palace Flophouse, Palace Brothers, Palace Songs, and Palace Music). After briefly publishing music under his own name, in 1998 he adopted Bonnie "Prince" Billy as the name for most of his work. Puff The Magic Dragon
"Puff, the Magic Dragon" (or just "Puff") is a song written by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary from a poem by Leonard Lipton. It was made popular by Yarrow's group in a 1962 recording released in January 1963. Lipton wrote a poem about a dragon in 1959, and when Yarrow found it, he wrote the lyrics to "Puff" based on the poem. After the song was released, Yarrow searched for Lipton to give him credit for the song. Lyrics The lyrics for "Puff, the Magic Dragon" are based on a 1959 poem by Leonard Lipton, then a 19-year-old Cornell University student. Lipton was inspired by an Ogden Nash poem titled "The Tale of Custard the Dragon", about a "realio, trulio little pet dragon". ''Mary, Mungo and Midge'' is a British animated children's television series, created by John Ryan and produced by the BBC in 1969. The show featured the adventures of a girl called Mary, her dog Mungo, and her pet mouse Midge, who lived with Mary's parents in a tower block in a busy town. BBC newsreader Richard Baker narrated the episodes, with John Ryan's daughter Isabel playing Mary. The theme tune and other music for the series were provided by Johnny Pearson, drawn from the KPM Music Library, specifically the LP 'Children and Animation' (KPM1045, 1969) This show was one of the first children's shows in the UK to reflect urban living. Kurt Wagner (born 1959) is an American musician, and the singer and songwriter of the Nashville-based alternative country band Lambchop. In 2015 he launched an electronic music project named HeCTA. Early life and education Wagner was born in the South — Nashville, Tennessee — to Northerner parents. As a youth, he wore his hair very long, which set him further as an outcast among his peers.
