Hok/sok System
The hok/sok system is a postsegregational killing mechanism employed by the R1 plasmid in ''Escherichia coli''. It was the first type I toxin-antitoxin pair to be identified through characterisation of a plasmid-stabilising locus. It is a type I system because the toxin is neutralised by a complementary RNA, rather than a partnered protein (type II toxin-antitoxin). Genes involved The hok/sok system involves three genes: * ''hok'', host killing - a long lived (half-life 20 minutes) toxin * ''sok'', suppression of killing - a short lived (half-life 30 seconds) RNA antitoxin * ''mok'', modulation of killing - required for ''hok'' translation Killing mechanism When ''E. coli'' undergoes cell division, the two daughter cells inherit the long-lived hok toxin from the parent cell. Due to the short half-life of the sok antitoxin, daughter cells inherit only small amounts and it quickly degrades. If a daughter cell has inherited the R1 plasmid, it has inherited the ''sok'' gene and a ...

Kamigawa
Kamigawa is an expert-level block for the ''Magic: The Gathering'' game inspired by Japanese myths and revolving around the battle between spirits (kami) and living beings. It consists of the expansion sets ''Champions of Kamigawa'' (October 1, 2004), ''Betrayers of Kamigawa'' (February 4, 2005), and ''Saviors of Kamigawa'' (June 3, 2005). Set history Champions ''Champions of Kamigawa'' introduced changes to two common creature types. The Legend creature type was replaced with the Legendary supertype. The Wall creature type was freed from the associated rules that prevented Walls from attacking; Each Wall creature was changed to have the new ''Defender'' keyword which prevents them from attacking, allowing for a simpler use of the "wall" type creature across different creature types. For example, this allowed for the ''Lorwyn'' changelings, which have all creature types. Under the old rules, changelings would not be able to attack, through sheer result of being walls. Legend ...

South Kenton is a station in Kenton, north-west London. The station is served by suburban services operated by London Underground on the Bakerloo line and London Overground on the Watford DC line. In the Bakerloo line, the station lies between Kenton and North Wembley stations. History The station opened on 3 July 1933 with access from both sides of the railway via a footbridge to the single island platform serving only the Euston-Watford DC line; this footbridge (which started at the bottom of the embankment) was later replaced by a pedestrian tunnel, cutting out a long climb for passengers entering the station. The station designed by the architect William Henry Hamlyn was built in a more modern "concrete and glass" style construction including a "streamlined" waiting room rather than the brick and woodwork LNWR stations elsewhere on the ...
