The three brothers Bahattin, Sinan and Kenan Sofuoğlu have been some of the most successful Turkish motorcycle racers. Their father Irfan Basri Sofuoğlu, a motorcycle enthusiast since 1965, ran a motorcycle repair shop in the Kuzuluk town of Akyazı district in the Sakarya Province. Bahattin Sofuoğlu (1 January 1978 - 25 October 2002) born in Adapazarı, Turkey was a successful motorcycle racer for the Turkish Honda team. As the son of a motorcycle repairman, he started racing in 1997 at the age of nineteen. His two brothers Sinan and Kenan were also motorcycle racers. Sinan Sofuoğlu died on May 9, 2008, at the age of 25 in the intensive care unit of Kocaeli University Hospital following a motorcycle crash. He was training for the Turkey Motorcycle Championship at İzmit Körfez Circuit in Körfez, Kocaeli, where he fell-off his motorcycle and suffered a broken neck, trauma at the base of his skull, and pulmonary hemorrhage. Supersport World Championship
The Supersport World Championship, abbreviated to WorldSSP, is a motorcycle racing competition on hard-surfaced circuits, based on mid-sized sports motorcycles. Competition machines were originally based on production-based motorcycles with 600 cc to 750 cc engines, depending on the number of cylinders. After trials in UK national series British Supersport, from 2022 the regulations have changed to allow eligibility of larger-displacement engines, to reflect the engine sizes being produced and encourage different manufacturers. Sinan ( Arabic: سنان ''sinān'') is a name found in Arabic and Early Arabic, meaning ''spearhead''. The name may also be related to the Ancient Greek name Sinon. It was used as a male given name.
