Sobha (1958 Film)
Sobha is a 1958 Indian Telugu-language drama film directed by Kamalakara Kameswara Rao. It stars N. T. Rama Rao and Anjali Devi. The film was produced by Ponnaluri Brothers under the Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures banner. Music was composed by A. M. Rajah in his debut. ''Sobha'' was a remake of the Hindi film '' Dulari'' (1949). The film was recorded as a ''Hit'' at the box office. Plot Seetamma (Hemalatha) a widow, has a daughter Sobha. On the occasion of Sobha's fifth birthday, Sitamma's brother Sankaram (Relangi) gifts her a locket with the picture of Sobha and her parents in it and promised that he will marry Sobha to his son Raja. At midnight there is a theft in Seetamma's house by a tribal gang led by Sardar (Dr. Sivaramakrishnayya). Noticing Sobha wearing so much jewelry, they kidnap her. Kamalakara Kameswara Rao
Kamalakara Kameswara Rao (14 October 1911 – 29 June 1998) was an Indian film director known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema, and a few Tamil and Hindi films. Widely known as ''Pauranika Chitra Brahma'' (), Kameswara Rao directed fifty feature films in a variety of genres. In 1960 he directed the biographical film, ''Mahakavi Kalidasu'' which won the President's silver medal for Best Feature Film in Telugu. In 1962 he directed ''Gundamma Katha'' which was commercially successful and received the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu. In the same year, he directed another biographical film, '' Mahamantri Timmarusu'' which won the President's silver medal for Best Feature Film in Telugu at the 10th National Film Awards. Hemalatha (19262019) was an Indian actress of Telugu cinema, of Andhra Pradesh, India. She acted in more than 100 films during the 1950s to 1976. The first movie she acted was Palletooru. She retired from movies in 1976, with ''Seethamma Santhanam'' being the film she last appeared. After retiring from movies, she was involved in Brahma Kumaris movement in Hyderabad till her death. Pillavalu Gajapathy Krishnaveni (3 November 1935 – 16 August 2004), more famously known as Jikki, was an Indian playback singer from Andhra Pradesh. She sang around 10,000 songs in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and Sinhalese languages. Early life Jikki was born in Chennai on 3 November 1935. Her parents Gajapathi Naidu and Rajakanthamma, a Telugu family, had moved from Chandragiri, near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh to Chennai for their livelihood. Chittajallu Rajeevalochana (15 August 1935 – 5 March 2013), better known as Rajasulochana, was an Indian classical dancer and actress. She has acted in more than 300 Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi language films. Early life She was born on 15 August 1935 in Vijayawada, Bezawada (now Vijayawada), in Andhra Pradesh. Anjali Devi (; 24 August 1927 – 13 January 2014) was an Indian actress, model and producer in Telugu and Tamil films. She was well known for her role as the Devi Sita in ''Lava Kusa'' as well as for the titular roles in movies like Chenchu Lakshmi, '' Suvarna Sundari'' and '' Anarkali''. Mukkamala Krishna Murthy (1920–1987), known mononymously by his surname as Mukkamala (Telugu: ముక్కామల), was a lawyer turned actor who was active in Telugu films in the 1950s and the 1960s. He was a stage actor in his student days and was popular in the role of French General Bussy in ''Bobbili Yuddham'', a stage play based on the historical Battle of Bobbili (Bobbili Yuddham).
