So Much More (Judith Durham Album)
''So Much More'' is a compilation album of previously unreleased tracks by Australian recording artist Judith Durham. The album was released in June 2018. Upon release, Durham confirmed she would not tour, saying: "I won't be on the stage. No, I'm telling everyone I'm singing for them virtually now. I don't think I'll be touring again." ''So Much More'' was Durham's final release before her death in 2022. Background and release ''So Much More'' is a collection of 14 previously unreleased tracks, some of whose origins date back decades and were all written (or co-written) by Durham. Judith Durham
Judith Durham (born Judith Mavis Cock; 3 July 1943 – 5 August 2022) was an Australian singer, songwriter and musician who became the lead singer of the Australian folk music group the Seekers in 1963. The group became the first Australian pop music group to achieve major chart and sales success in the United Kingdom and the United States and have sold over 50 million records worldwide. Durham left the group in mid-1968 to pursue her solo career. In 1993, Durham began to make sporadic recordings and performances with the Seekers, though she remained primarily a solo performer. On 1 July 2015, she was named Victorian of the Year for her services to music and a range of charities. Mark Holden
Mark Ronald Holden (born 27 April 1954) is an Australian singer, actor, TV personality, record producer, songwriter, and barrister. He was a pop star in the 1970s and had four top 20 hit singles, "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" (May 1976), "I Wanna Make You My Lady" (September), "Last Romance" (November) and "Reach Out for the One Who Loves You" (October 1977). ''Up Close and Personal'' is the ninth studio album (tenth included the co-credit on ''Future Road'') by Australian recording artist Judith Durham. The album was released in Australia in May 2009. Background and release In July 2006, Durham was asked to sing a short set of spiritual songs a cappella for a gathering in Sydney. Durham said; "I had certainly never thought of singing 'a cappella' in a large auditorium before. The purity of the simple presentation seemed to engender a very peaceful environment and for me the lyrics became more like prayers." Following this experience, Durham spent two years recording an a cappella album, focussing on a repertoire of spiritually focussed material. The album was launched with a one-off concert at the Melbourne Recital Centre on 23 May 2009. Seekers
The Seekers, or Legatine-Arians as they were sometimes known, were an English dissenting group that emerged around the 1620s, probably inspired by the preaching of three brothers – Walter, Thomas, and Bartholomew Legate. Seekers considered all organised churches of their day corrupt and preferred to wait for God's revelation. Many of them subsequently joined the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Origins Long before the English Civil War there already existed what the English Marxist historian, Christopher Hill, calls a "lower-class heretical culture" in England. The cornerstones of this culture were anti-clericalism and a strong emphasis on Biblical study, but specific doctrines had "an uncanny persistence": Millenarianism, mortalism, anti-Trinitarianism, Hermeticism and a rejection of Predestination. Keith Potger
Keith Leon Potger (born 21 March 1941) is an Australian musician. He is a founding members of the Australian folk-pop group the Seekers. He was born in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and is of Burgher descent. In 1969, Potger and his business partner David Joseph co-founded the contemporary English pop group the New Seekers. Potger also records and performs as a solo artist. In September 2014, along with his colleagues in the Seekers, Potger was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO). Early life Keith Potger was born on 21 March 1941 in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), to Justin Vere Potger (1914-1990) and Joan Frances Meier (1920-2004). His two brothers are Ralph and Nigel. Chocolate Starfish
Chocolate Starfish is an Australian rock band formed in 1992 and disbanded in 1998. Their self-titled debut album, issued in April 1994, peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It was followed in October 1995 by their second album, ''Box'', which reached No. 6. Their highest-charting single, "You're So Vain", was a cover version of Carly Simon's 1972 hit.
