Edward Joseph Snowden (born June 21, 1983) is an American and naturalized Russian former computer intelligence consultant who leaked highly classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) in 2013, when he was an employee and subcontractor. His disclosures revealed numerous global surveillance programs, many run by the NSA and the Five Eyes intelligence alliance with the cooperation of telecommunication companies and European governments and prompted a cultural discussion about national security and individual privacy. In 2013, Snowden was hired by an NSA contractor, Booz Allen Hamilton, after previous employment with Dell and the CIA. Snowden was an indie rock band fronted by musician and songwriter Jordan Jeffares. The name is inspired by Snowden, a fictional character from the novel ''Catch-22'' by Joseph Heller. History Snowden started out in Jeffares' bedroom, where he recorded demos. These demos impressed Jeffares' brother Preston Craig, who then introduced other musicians to Jeffares, thus beginning Snowden. Snowden self released The Snowden EP, which was received with immense local success. They landed spots opening for groups such as Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Arcade Fire. In 2006, Jade Tree signed the band and released their debut album ''Anti-Anti''. Snowden Family Band
The Snowden Family Band was a 19th-century African American musical group. The children of the Snowden family of Clinton, Knox County, Ohio, comprised the ensemble. The band's career stretched from before the American Civil War into living memory; no other African American band of their type lasted as long.Sacks and Sacks 12. However, through their music, they integrated themselves into their predominantly white community and entertained, corresponded with, and even taught their white neighbors. Snowden Mountain is a mountain summit located in the Brooks Range, in the U.S. state of Alaska. Description The mountain is situated 13 miles north of Sukakpak Mountain, 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle, and 200 miles north-northwest of Fairbanks. The peak lies along the east side of the Dietrich River valley, and can be seen from the Dalton Highway which traverses the valley. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises above the river in two miles. The peak is set in the Snowden Mountain Area of Critical Environmental Concern, which is managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
