Snowboarding At The 2010 Winter Olympics – Men's Halfpipe
The men's Snowboarding#Half-pipe, halfpipe competition of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Vancouver 2010 Olympics was held at Cypress Bowl Ski Area, Cypress Mountain on February 17, 2010. Summary In each round of competition, each competitor performed two rides through the halfpipe. The highest-scoring run determined whether or not the competitor continued to the next round (or medaled, in the final round). In each round (except for the first run of the qualifying round) the order of performance was based on the inverse order of scoring (i.e., the competitor with the lowest score went first and so forth with the highest-scoring competitor going last). The first round was the qualifying round, with 40 snowboarders divided into two heats. The top nine scorers from each heat advanced; the top three scorers went straight to the final round while the fourth- through ninth-place scorers went to a semifinal round. Cypress Bowl Ski Area
Cypress Mountain is a ski area in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, located in the southern section of Cypress Provincial Park, operated under a BC Parks Park Use Permit. The ski resort is a 30-minute drive north of downtown Vancouver, and has 53 named alpine ski runs (many accessible for night skiing) and 19 km of cross country trails. Snowshoeing tours are also popular. Gregory Bretz (born December 19, 1990, in Anaheim, California, Anaheim, California) is an American snowboarder who has competed since 2004. His first and to date only FIS Snowboard World Cup, World Cup victory was in Canada in the halfpipe event in 2008. Iouri Iourеvich Podladtchikov (russian: Юрий Юрьевич Подладчиков, born 13 September 1988) is a Russian-born Swiss snowboarder. He rides goofy stance. He has competed since 2000. He won the gold medal for the halfpipe at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Career Russian-born Podladtchikov grew up in Davos, Switzerland, and started snowboarding in 2000. He changed nationality after competing for Russia in Turin at age 17. In the final rankings he was 37th. Graduated from Sports High Pool Davos in 2008. is a Japanese snowboarder who has won multiple medals in international events, including consecutive golds in US Open Halfpipe in 2010 and 2011. Ståle Sandbech (born 3 June 1993) is a Norwegian snowboarder, who specialises in Big Air, and Slopestyle. He has participated at the 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 Winter Olympics and won a silver medal in the Men's slopestyle in 2014.
