Snowboarding At The 2006 Winter Olympics – Men's Halfpipe
The men's halfpipe event in snowboarding at the 2006 Winter Olympics was held in Bardonecchia, a village in the Province of Turin, Italy. Competition took place on 12 February 2006. Medalists Results The halfpipe event for men took place on 12 February 2006, both the qualification rounds and the finals taking place on that day. Forty-four snowboarders took part in the qualification, the top twelve of whom move on to the finals. In the qualification round, each snowboarder was given two runs to be in the top six of that run. Regardless of how many points the person received, as long as they placed in the top six, they advanced to the finals. If the person qualified in the first run, they did not need to do a second run in the qualification. Bardonecchia
Bardonecchia (; french: Bardonèche or ; pms, Bardonecia ; oc, Bardonescha ) is an Italian town and ''comune'' located in the Metropolitan City of Turin, in the Piedmont region, in the western part of Susa Valley. It grew out of a small village with the works for the Frejus Rail Tunnel, the first crossing the Alps. The town hosted the snowboarding events of the 2006 Winter Olympics. Brad Martin (athlete)
Brad Martin (born August 12, 1986) is a Canadian snowboarder who specializes in the halfpipe. Martin was born and resides in Hamilton, Ontario, currently in the west Hamilton area of Ancaster. Career In 2006, he finished 16th in the halfpipe event at the Olympics. He won a bronze medal at the 2007 FIS Snowboarding World Championships. On February 29, 2008, he won his first world cup event.
