Snowboarding At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Women's Halfpipe
The women's halfpipe competition of the 2018 Winter Olympics was held from 12 to 13 February 2018 at the Bogwang Phoenix Park in Pyeongchang, South Korea. In the victory ceremony, the medals were presented by Larry Probst, member of the International Olympic Committee, accompanied by Dexter Paine, International Ski Federation vice president. Qualification The top 24 athletes in the Olympic quota allocation list qualified, with a maximum of four athletes per National Olympic Committee (NOC) allowed. All athletes qualifying must also have placed in the top 30 of a FIS World Cup event or the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2017 during the qualification period (July 1, 2016 to January 21, 2018) and also have a minimum of 50 FIS points to compete. It is located in the township of Bongpyeong-myeon, in the county of Pyeongchang. It was the venue for the Freestyle skiing at the 2018 Winter Olympics, freestyle skiing and Snowboarding at the 2018 Winter Olympics, snowboarding events in the 2018 Winter Olympics and the 2018 Winter Paralympics. She won a bronze medal in the superpipe competition at the 2018 X Games in Aspen. Mercedes Nicoll
Mercedes Nicoll (born December 5, 1983, in North Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian snowboarder, specializing in the halfpipe. Career Nicoll made her World Cup debut in December 1999 at Whistler, Canada, in halfpipe and snowboard cross. She made her first World Cup podium at the same place, three years later in 2002, where she won bronze. To date, Nicoll has won eight other World Cup medals, though she is yet to win a gold. Her best World Cup season was 2005, when she placed 4th in the halfpipe standings. She has also competed in four FIS Snowboarding World Championships, with her best performance coming in 2011, when she finished 8th. She is a five time Canadian National Champion. Holly Crawford (born 10 February 1984) is an Australian half-pipe snowboarder. She competed in the 2006 Winter Olympics and placed 22nd and 12th in her qualification runs. Kelly Clark (born July 26, 1983) is an American snowboarder who won halfpipe gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Clark was born in Newport, Rhode Island. She started snowboarding when she was 7 years old, began competing in 1999, and became a member of the US Snowboard team in 2000.
