Slovenian Ice Hockey Cup
The Slovenian Ice Hockey Cup is the national ice hockey cup in Slovenia. History Initially, during the 1990s, the Slovenian Cup was awarded to the best team in the first part of the Slovenian Ice Hockey League season. In the 1999–2000 season, the cup was contested for the first time as a single-elimination tournament. However, the final four, which was scheduled to be played at the new Zalog Arena in Ljubljana, was not held. Instead, the winner was declared during the Rudi Hiti Summer League, an annual ice hockey tournament, and was contested by Olimpija and HK Jesenice. The first official and completed season as recognized by the Ice Hockey Federation of Slovenia was contested during the 2015–16 season, and was won by Olimpija. In the next season, the final between Olimpija and HDD Jesenice was not played due to scheduling conflicts. Radiotelevizija Slovenija ( en, Radio-Television of Slovenia) – usually abbreviated to RTV Slovenija (or simply RTV within Slovenia) – is Slovenia's national public broadcasting organization. Siol.net is a Slovenian web media and the oldest news portal in Slovenia. It is owned and managed by TSmedia company that is itself owned by the Telekom Slovenije. The main contents cover daily politics, news, sports, technology, lifestyle, and motoring. Since 2020, Peter Jančič serves as the editor-in-chief. History Siol.net was established in 1996 by Telekom Slovenije. It was the first online news portal in Slovenia and has seen a number of visual changes over the years. Between 1999 and 2007, the portal was owned by Siol. In 2008 the ownership and management was taken over by Planet 9, which merged with the company Najdi on 1 April 2011. Kranj
Kranj (, german: Krainburg) is the third-largest city in Slovenia, with a population of 37,941 (2020). It is located approximately northwest of Ljubljana. The centre of the City Municipality of Kranj and of the traditional region of Upper Carniola (northwestern Slovenia) is a mainly industrial city with significant electronics and rubber industries. HK Olimpija
Hokejski klub Olimpija ( en, Olimpija Hockey Club), currently named HK Slovenske železnice Olimpija due to sponsorship reasons, is an ice hockey club from Ljubljana, Slovenia. The club competes in the ICE Hockey League and the Slovenian League. Founded in 2004 as a farm team of HDD Olimpija, the club turned professional in 2017 after HDD Olimpija folded. Slovenian Ice Hockey League
The Slovenian Hockey League is the highest level ice hockey league in Slovenia. The championship phase is contested after the regular season to determine the national champion. History The Slovenian Hockey League was firstly contested in the 1991–92 season, with the championship being held at the end as the play-offs. Over time, some Slovenian teams entered the Austrian Hockey League, and joined only for the play-offs. In the 2007–08 season there was an issue, as the Croatian team Medveščak qualified for the play-offs. As the Slovenian Champion could only be a team from Slovenia, they did not take part in the play-offs. Podmežakla Hall
Podmežakla Hall (''Dvorana Podmežakla'') is an indoor sporting arena located in Jesenice, Slovenia. It is the home of the HDD Jesenice ice hockey team. It is also the site of the Triglav Trophy, an annual international figure skating competition held each spring. The name ''Podmežakla'' (literally 'below Mežakla') is derived from its location on the southwest bank of the Sava Dolinka, directly below the Mežakla Plateau.
