Coat Of Arms Of Slovakia
The coat of arms of the Slovak Republic consists of a red (''gules'') shield, in early Gothic style, charged with a silver (''argent'') double cross standing on the middle peak of a dark blue mountain consisting of three peaks. Extremities of the cross are amplified, and its ends are concaved. The double cross is a symbol of its Christian faith and the hills represent three symbolic mountain ranges: Tatra, Fatra (made up of the Veľká Fatra and Malá Fatra ranges), and Matra (in northern Hungary). Modern design history In 1990, the Slovak Interior Ministry tasked Ladislav Čisárik (a painter and heraldic artist) and Ladislav Vrtel (an expert in heraldry) with creating a new coat of arms and national flag in the aftermath of the Velvet Revolution. IIHF World Women's U18 Championships
The IIHF Women's World U18 Championship, officially the IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women's World Championship, is an annual ice hockey tournament for national women's under-18 (U18) ice hockey teams, administrated by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It is the junior edition of the IIHF Women's World Championship and participation is limited to female ice hockey players under 18 years of age. History A qualification tournament was held in 2007 to finalize divisional placement and the inaugural championship was held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in January 2008. The United States' national team were the first champions and have remained the dominant force in the tournament, winning gold at eight of fifteen championships and never ranking lower than third place. The 2016 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship Division I and 2016 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship Division I Qualification were a pair of international under-18 women's ice hockey tournaments run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Division I and Division I Qualification tournaments made up the second and third level of competition at the 2016 IIHF World Women's U18 Championships respectively. The Division I tournament took place between 10 January and 16 January 2016 in Miskolc, Hungary. The tournament was won by Japan who gained promotion back to the Championship Division for 2017 while Denmark finished last and was placed in the newly formed Division I Group B tournament for 2017. The 2013 World Women's U18 Championship Division I final tournament was played in Romanshorn, Switzerland, from 2 to 8 January 2013. Japan won the tournament and after two years in Division I they returned to the Top Division. Qualification tournament The qualification tournament was played in Dumfries, Great Britain, from 27 October to 1 November 2012. The top two teams, France and Slovakia, were promoted to Division I of this year, but starting in 2014 one team will be promoted from the qualification tournament and will wait until the following year (2015) to play in Division I. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey.
