The Serial Line Internet Protocol (SLIP) is an encapsulation of the Internet Protocol designed to work over serial ports and router connections. It is documented in . On personal computers, SLIP has largely been replaced by the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), which is better engineered, has more features, and does not require its IP address configuration to be set before it is established. A large igneous province (LIP) is an extremely large accumulation of igneous rocks, including intrusive (sills, dikes) and extrusive (lava flows, tephra deposits), arising when magma travels through the crust towards the surface. The formation of LIPs is variously attributed to mantle plumes or to processes associated with divergent plate tectonics. The formation of some of the LIPs in the past 500 million years coincide in time with mass extinctions and rapid climatic changes, which has led to numerous hypotheses about causal relationships. SLIP is a list processing computer programming language, invented by Joseph Weizenbaum in the 1960s. The name ''SLIP'' stands for Symmetric LIst Processor. It was first implemented as an extension to the Fortran programming language, and later embedded into MAD and ALGOL. The Slip (band)
The Slip is an avant-rock trio from Boston, Massachusetts. The band consists of Providence, Rhode Island brothers Brad Barr (guitar, piano, vocals) and Andrew Barr (drums), and Marc Friedman (bass guitar). The three also play with singer-songwriter Nathan Moore (of ThaMuseMeant) and keyboardist Marco Benevento in Surprise Me Mr. Davis. Shawn Austin (born January 13, 1996) is a Canadian country singer and songwriter. He is signed to Big Loud Records' joint venture Local Hay. Early life Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Austin elected to pursue a career in country music due to its "wholesomeness and authenticity", naming Garth Brooks as one of his influences. ''The Slip'' is the seventh studio album by American industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, released on May 5, 2008, digitally on the Nine Inch Nails website, and on CD on July 22 by The Null Corporation. It was their second release in 2008, following their sixth album ''Ghosts I–IV'', released two months prior. The album was produced by frontman Trent Reznor with collaborators Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder. Although originally intended to be an EP, the project was later expanded into a full length album. "Slip" is a song by British girl-group Stooshe from their debut album ''London with the Lights On''. Produced by Future Cut, it was released as the album's third single by Warner Music UK from 12 May 2013. Stooshe released the official artwork for the single on 20 March 2013. "Slip" is about a partner who has become comfortable in a relationship and has forgotten how to be romantic. The song has a Motown sound, which Karis Anderson said gave the group their sense of fun back. The accompanying music video was directed by Bryan Barber and released on 25 March 2013. A slip is a woman's undergarment worn beneath a dress or skirt. A full slip hangs from the shoulders, usually by means of narrow straps, and extends from the breast to the fashionable skirt length. In cricket, a slip fielder (collectively, a ''slip cordon'' or ''the slips'') is placed behind the batsman on the off side of the field. They are placed with the aim of catching an edged ball which is beyond the wicket-keeper's reach. Many teams employ two or three slips (numbered from the slip fielder closest to the wicket-keeper: first slip, second slip, etc.).
