Sleeper (Ty Segall Album)
''Sleeper'' is the sixth studio album by American indie rock musician Ty Segall, released on August 20, 2013, on Drag City. Recorded between January and March 2013, the album features primarily acoustic psychedelic folk compositions, and is influenced by the death of Segall's father and his subsequent estrangement from his mother. Upon the album's release, Segall noted, "I was not in a good spot. I had been through some rough stuff, like my dad passed away, and was going through some relationship issues, too. Plus, I was having all of these awful dreams. Ones about sleep and death, and it's from there that I'd write stuff from. It's not really like what I do. It's more brutal to me." The album is notable for being the first without a promotional single since Segall's self-titled debut album. Still, in November 2013, an official video for "The Man Man" was released. Ty (stylized as ty) is an American multinational corporation headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. It was founded by Ty Warner in 1986. It designs, develops and sells products, most notably Beanie Babies, exclusively to specialty markets worldwide. Internet First business-to-consumer Website Ty was the first business to produce a direct-to-consumer website designed to engage their market. This is a major contributing factor to the early and rapidly growing popularity of Beanie Babies. By the time the first iteration of the Ty Web site was published in late 1995, only 14% of Americans were using the Internet. Fuzz (band)
Fuzz is a rock band from San Francisco, California, United States, formed in 2011. The band consists of Charles Moothart (vocals, guitar), Ty Segall (vocals, drums) and Chad Ubovich (vocals, bass guitar). Created as an outlet for Moothart's affection for hard rock riffs, Fuzz began as collaboration between Moothart and Segall, while Moothart performed in Segall's live band. In 2012, they released two singles, "This Time I Got a Reason" and "Sleigh Ride", and were joined by the bass guitarist Roland Cosio. In October 2013, the band released its first album, '' Fuzz''. While touring the album, Ubovich ( Meatbodies and Mikal Cronin Band) replaced Cosio on bass guitar. In October 2015, Fuzz released a second album, entitled '' II'', written in a more collaborative manner than the band members were used to. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. It has since expanded and covers all kinds of music, including pop. Pitchfork was sold to Condé Nast in 2015, although Schreiber remained its editor-in-chief until he left the website in 2019. Emily Rose Epstein is an American drummer. She is best known for her collaborations with the garage rock musicians Ty Segall and Mikal Cronin. She was a former member of Segall's live band, and a former member of Cronin's. She met Segall at the University of San Francisco. Michael "Mikal" Patrick Cronin (born 1985) is an American musician and songwriter. He has released four solo albums and several singles. Cronin was a member of the bands Okie Dokie, Epsilons, Party Fowl and Moonhearts, and is a regular and longtime member of Ty Segall's live band, contributing bass guitar, backing vocals and saxophone; he has also released an album and a single in collaboration with Segall. Cronin earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in music from California Institute of the Arts. Charles Moothart
Charles Frances Moothart (born 1989) is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. He is best known for his collaborations with the garage rock musicians Ty Segall and Mikal Cronin. Moothart is the drummer for Segall's current backing band, The Freedom Band. He was previously the guitarist for Segall's backing band, the Ty Segall Band, and is the guitarist and vocalist in the pair's hard rock project, Fuzz. Additionally, he is a member of Segall's collaborative project with Ex-Cult's Chris Shaw, GØGGS. As well as playing in the Ty Segall Band, both Moothart and Cronin were members of the Moonhearts, with Moothart assisting Cronin on his solo albums, ''Mikal Cronin'' (2011) and '' MCII'' (2013). White Fence (musician)
Tim Presley is an American musician, singer and songwriter. Presley began his career playing with the hardcore punk bands Model American and The Nerve Agents. In 2004, Presley founded the psychedelic rock band Darker My Love. In 2006 he joined The Fall, playing on the LP '' Reformation Post TLC'', and was an occasional guest musician on the band's later albums. Since 2010, Presley has released music under the name White Fence. As of January 2019, he has released seven studio albums, two live albums, and two collaborative albums with Ty Segall under that name, as well as two albums with Cate Le Bon under the name DRINKS, an experimental solo album under the name W-X, and a solo album, ''THE WiNK,'' under his own name.
