''SlaughtaHouse'' is the debut studio album by American hip hop group Masta Ace Incorporated and the second album by Brooklyn-based rapper Masta Ace. It was released on May 4, 1993, through Delicious Vinyl. Recording sessions took place at Firehouse Studios in Brooklyn. Production was handled by Masta Ace under his producer moniker 'Ase One', as well as the Bluez Brothas, Uneek, Latief, and the Beatheads, with Orlando Aguillen serving as executive producer. It peaked at number 134 on the ''Billboard'' 200 in the United States. The loose concept of the album is addressing the growing trend of violence in hip-hop music at the time, notably from gangsta rap. He addresses this satirically in the over-the-top single "Slaughtahouse". The album infuses West Coast funk-influenced beats with rough "New York rhyming". Masta Ace Incorporated
Masta Ace Incorporated was an American hip hop crew formed by rapper Masta Ace. History The group, also known as ''The I.N.C.'', included Eyceurokk (Eyce, Uneek and Rokkdiesel), Lord Digga, Paula Perry and R&B vocalist Leschea. Ace first gained notice in the rap world as a member of the legendary Juice Crew, and with the release of his acclaimed 1990 debut '' Take a Look Around'', which featured an appearance from Eyceurokk. In 1992, Ace formed the I.N.C. crew and recorded their first group album, ''SlaughtaHouse'', which was released in May 1993. Ace provided almost all of the rapping, with Lord Digga serving as the hype-man. Digga was also responsible for a bulk of the beats, producing five of the album's songs as part of the duo Bluez Brothers. Born To Roll (song)
"Born to Roll" is a single by Masta Ace Incorporated. Released initially as a standalone single in 1994, "Born To Roll" is the West Coast remake of "Jeep Ass Niguh" (the hit single from their 1993 debut album ''SlaughtaHouse'') with the same lyrics, now musically modified to pay homage to the West Coast sound (which was popular by this time) and the lowrider scene, keeping with the theme of cars and loud, booming music. Group leader Masta Ace was the sole performer of the song, as well as the sole producer of this version under the credit of Ase One. "Born To Roll" became Masta Ace's biggest chart hit, peaking at number 23 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and also at #5 on the Hot Rap Singles chart, garnering relatively greater popularity than its original East Coast counterpart. Duval Clear (born December 4, 1966), known better by his stage name Masta Ace, is an American rapper and record producer from New York City. He appeared on the classic 1988 Juice Crew posse cut " The Symphony". Leschea
Schea Boatwright (born January 27, 1971), better known by the stage name of Leschea (pronounced le-SHAY) is a contemporary R&B performer who had success in 1995 and 1996 with her debut album ''Rhythm & Beats''. On December 6, 2005, her album was re-released through iTunes. Leschea was also part of the group Masta Ace Incorporated. Early life Leschea was born and raised in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn NY, and began singing and performing at the age of eight. With no formal training, she honed her vocal and performing skills in school productions from junior high to junior college. ''Take a Look Around'' is the debut solo studio album by American rapper Masta Ace. It was released on July 24, 1990 through Cold Chillin' Records with distribution via Reprise Records. Recording sessions took place at House Of Hits in Chestnut Ridge, New York and at Libra Digital Sound in Long Island City. Production was handled by Marley Marl and Mister Cee. Background After appearing on the classic hip hop crew cut " The Symphony" with the Juice Crew in 1988, Ace released his first single, "Together" b/w "Letter to the Better" in 1989. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965 in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music.
