Angela Slatter
Angela Slatter is a writer based in Brisbane, Australia. Primarily working in the field of speculative fiction, she has focused on short stories since deciding to pursue writing in 2005, when she undertook a Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing. Since then she has written a number of short stories, many of which were included in her two compilations, ''Sourdough and Other Stories'' (2010) and ''The Girl With No Hands and other tales'' (2010). Education Slatter is a graduate of Clarion South 2009 and the Tin House Summer Writers Workshop 2006. She has an MA and a PhD in Creative Writing. In 2013 she was awarded one of the inaugural Queensland Writers Fellowships. Slatter occasionally teaches creative writing at the Queensland University of Technology. Heber Slatter
Heber Percy Slatter (1887 – 7 May 1918) was an English amateur footballer who played in the Southern League for Reading as a left half. He also played in the Isthmian League for Oxford City. Personal life Slatter was born in Earley and grew up in Reading. He attended Christ's Hospital, and later worked as a tax collector for Reading Council. He was married with two children. In November 1915, during the second year of the First World War, Slatter enlisted as a gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery. After being posted to the Western Front in 1916, he was promoted to corporal. Hope Hull Slatter
Hope Hull Slatter (June 11, 1790 – September 15, 1853) was a 19th-century American slave trader with an "extensive establishment and private jail, for the keeping of slaves" on Pratt Street in Baltimore, Maryland. He gained "wealth and infamy from the trade in blood," and sold thousands of people from the Chesapeake region to parts south. Slatter, in company with Austin Woolfolk, Bernard M. Campbell, and Joseph S. Donovan has been described as one of the "tycoons of the slave trade" in the Upper South, collectively "responsible for the forced departures of approximately 9,000 captives from Baltimore to New Orleans." He worked in partnership with his younger brother Shadrack F. Slatter, who maintained their New Orleans sales operation. Slatter's son Henry F. Kate Elizabeth Slatter OAM (born 10 November 1971; married name Kate Allen) is an Australian former rower, a sixteen time national champion, world champion and Olympic champion from Adelaide, South Australia. She is a three-time Olympian who in 1996 won Australia's first Olympic gold in women's rowing. Club and state rowing Slatter began rowing at the Adelaide University Boat Club in 1989, and rowed in their victorious women's eight at the 1996 Australian University Games, two weeks after winning gold in Atlanta. Leonard Slatter
Air Marshal Sir Leonard Horatio Slatter, (8 December 1894 – 14 April 1961) was a naval aviator during the First World War and a senior Royal Air Force commander during the Second World War. Slatter ended his career as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Coastal Command. Early life and First World War Slatter was born in Durban, South Africa on 8 December 1894. He received his education at Dale College and Selborne College in South Africa and then at Battersea Polytechnic, training to be a civil engineer. With the outbreak of the First World War he joined the Royal Navy. He initially served as a dispatch rider in the Naval Armoured Car Division before transferring to the Royal Naval Air Service in 1915. After successfully completing his observer training, Slatter was posted in February 1916 to the Seaplane Squadron at Dunkirk. Neil Slatter is a Welsh former professional footballer, who played at left back. He began his career with Bristol Rovers in 1980, where he remained for five years before moving on to Oxford United.
