A skins game is a type of scoring for various sports. It has its origins in golf but has been adapted for disc golf, curling and bowling. Golf In golf, a skins event has players compete for prize money on each individual hole. Skins Game, PGA Tour There was an annual skins game for male professional golfers which took place in November or December each year after the end of the official PGA Tour season (1983–2008). It was recognized by the PGA Tour but did not count towards the official money list. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide #Curling stone, stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area that is segmented into four concentric circles. The PGA Tour (stylized as PGA TOUR by its officials) is the organizer of professional golf tours in North America. ''Jack Nicklaus 4'' is a 1997 sports golf video game. It was published by Accolade, and is the fourth in a series of video games named after golfer Jack Nicklaus, following '' Jack Nicklaus Golf & Course Design: Signature Edition'' (1992). The original Microsoft Windows version was developed by Cinematronics. Versions were also released for Macintosh and DVD. A PlayStation version titled ''Jack Nicklaus '98'' was also in development. The game was followed by '' Jack Nicklaus 5'', released later in 1997. Gameplay ''Jack Nicklaus 4'' includes eight different game modes. Stroke Play
Stroke play is a scoring system in the sport of golf. In the regular form of stroke play, also known as medal play, the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In a regular stroke play competition, the winner is the player who has taken the fewest strokes over the course of the round, or rounds. Other forms of stroke play include Stableford, whereby points are gained based on hole scores, maximum score, in which there is a limit to the number of strokes that may be taken on each hole, and Par (golf scoring format), par (or bogey), where holes are won or lost against a target score on each hole. Continental Cup Of Curling
The Continental Cup is a curling tournament held annually between teams from North America (sometimes just Canada) against teams from the rest of the World (sometimes just Europe). Each side is represented by six teams (three women's teams and three men's teams), which compete using a unique points system. The tournament is modeled after golf's Ryder Cup, but unlike the Ryder Cup, the Continental Cup has never been held outside of North America nor has it been a regular, biennial event. The inaugural Continental Cup was held in 2002 but was held only three times between 2005 and 2010. Since 2011, however, the Continental Cup has been an annual competition. TSN Skins Game
The TSN All-Star Curling Skins Game is an annual curling bonspiel hosted by The Sports Network. " Skins" curling had been developed as a way to make curling more interesting on TV during the time before the free guard zone rule was implemented. The bonspiel was held annually from 1986 to 2004 before being revived as the Casino Rama Curling Skins Game in 2007. In 2013, Dominion of Canada took over naming rights to the event, which also shifted into an all-star format featuring teams of top Canadian curling players, but the format reverted to the original format in 2015, when Pinty's acquired the naming rights to the event. In skins curling, teams compete for "skins" rather than points. A team can win a skin by stealing an end or scoring two or more points in an end while with the hammer. Doug Maxwell
Douglas Dean Maxwell (c. 1927 – August 31, 2007) was a noted Canadians, Canadian journalist and broadcaster, noted for his coverage in the sport of curling. Among his accomplishments, Maxwell served as director of the World Curling Championships for 18 years (1968–1985), is credited for inventing the Skins game#Curling, Skins Game, published the ''Canadian Curling News'' for 20 years and wrote numerous books including the bestseller ''Canada Curls''. Maxwell is also given credit for introducing time clocks to the game, and turning the World Championships into a major event. Maxwell served as a member of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC's first Curling on CBC, broadcast team for curling. Maxwell was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1996 as a builder. Maxwell was also awarded the World Curling Freytag Award, which later led to his induction into the WCF Hall of Fame.
