Skateboarding at the 2020 Summer Olympics was an event held in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. It was the debut appearance of skateboarding at the Summer Olympics. Skateboarding was one of four new sports added to the Olympic program for 2020; it is also provisionally approved for the 2024 Summer Olympic games. The cycling competitions of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo featured 22 events in five disciplines. Cycling competitions had been contested in every Summer Olympics programme since the first modern Olympiad in 1896 alongside athletics, artistic gymnastics, fencing and swimming. Since the 1896 contests which featured five track events and an 87 km road race from Athens to Marathon and back, Olympic cycling had gradually evolved to include women's competitions, mountain bike and BMX to arrive at the current 22 events. The cycling program for this edition was expanded with 4 more events than those held in 2016. Roller sports competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru are scheduled to be held at the Polideportivo 3 (artistic), and Pista de Patinaje (Roller speed skating, speed skating). The artistic competitions will start on July 26 and finish on the 27th. Speed skating competitions will take place on the 9th and 10 August. In 2016, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made several changes to its sports program, which were subsequently implemented for these games. Included in this was the addition of skateboarding events for the first time to the Pan American Games Pan American Games sports, sports program. Roller speed skating at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 7 to 8 October. The competition took place at the Paseo de la Costa in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This marked the debut of the sport at the Youth Olympics. Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) was permitted a maximum of two competitors, one boy and one girl. As hosts, Argentina was granted one male and one female competitor, should they not qualify normally, and an additional two competitors, one boy and one girl, were to be decided by the tripartite committee. He won the gold medal in the inaugural Olympic men's street event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, becoming the first person ever to win a gold medal in skateboarding at the Olympics.
