Siuro
Siuro () is a village in the western part of the Nokia town in Pirkanmaa, Finland. In 2015, the population of the village was measured to be 2,526 inhabitants. Siuro is a fairly large area, which includes the western part of the nearby Siuronkoski rapids. The historical border between Turku and Pori and Häme Provinces ran along Siuronkoski until the end of 1972. The village of Linnavuori is also often considered part of Siuro. In the north the area is bordered by Highway 11 and in the south by Lake Kulovesi. Siuro is less than ten kilometers from the center of Nokia and from Tampere. Although Siuro is quite village-like, its largest employers are the factories: the AGCO's power engine plant and Patria's engine maintenance unit in Linnavuori, as well as the Purso's aluminum plant. Siuro Railway Station
The Siuro railway station ( fi, Siuron rautatieasema, sv, Siuro järnvägsstation) is located in the village and urban area of Siuro in the town of Nokia, Finland. It is located along the Tampere–Pori railway, and its nearest open stations are Nokia in the east and Karkku in the west. The Finnish Heritage Agency has proclaimed the Siuro station as a built cultural environment of national significance. History Siuro is one of the original stations of the Tampere–Pori railway, being opened on 4 November 1895. Its location was chosen based on its proximity to the Siuronkoski rapids, as the large lake of Mahnalanselkä – Kirkkojärvi was used as a waterborne route towards Hämeenkyrö. This factor helped Siuro grow into a significant industrial population center in its area. The bridge crossing the Siuronkoski was destroyed during the Finnish Civil War on 27 March 1918. Nokia () is a town and a municipality on the banks of the Nokianvirta River (part of the Kokemäki River) in the region of Pirkanmaa, some west of Tampere in Finland. Lake Kulovesi
Kulovesi is a medium-sized lake in Finland. It is situated in the area of the towns Nokia and Sastamala in the Pirkanmaa region. The lake is part of the Kokemäenjoki basin. The lake Pyhäjärvi drains through the Nokianvirta River into the Lake Kulovesi from the west and the lake Kyrösjärvi through a chain of lakes (last one being Mahnalanselkä – Kirkkojärvi) and the Siuronkoski rapids from the north near the Siuro village. The lake gathers waters from an area of 20 822 km² that includes the whole upper part of the Kokemäenjoki basin. Pirkanmaa (; sv, Birkaland; la, Birkaria, link=no), also known as ''Tampere Region'' in government documents, is a region of Finland. It borders the regions of Satakunta, South Ostrobothnia, Central Finland, Päijät-Häme, Kanta-Häme and Southwest Finland. Turku and Pori Province (, , ) was a province of independent Finland from 1917 to 1997. The province was however founded as a county in 1634 when today's Finland was an integrated part of Sweden. Häme Province
The Province of Häme ( fi, Hämeen lääni, sv, Tavastehus län) was a province of Finland from 1831 to 1997. In 1997 the southern parts with Kanta-Häme, Päijät-Häme was merged with the province of Uusimaa and Kymi into the new Province of Southern Finland. The northern part with Pirkanmaa was merged with the provinces of Vaasa, Central Finland, Turku and Pori into the new Province of Western Finland. Finnish national road 11 ( fi, valtatie 11, sv, riksväg 11) is an east–west highway from Nokia of Pirkanmaa to Pori of Satakunta. The road is relatively short, only 101 kilometers, in addition to which the road as a whole is two-lane. Nonetheless, a highway is an important route used by industrial transportation. The road passes through the following municipalities: Nokia - Sastamala - Kokemäki - Ulvila - Pori. Since the Sastamala and Kiikoinen joined together in 2013, this is currently the only highway in Finland that runs entirely in the territory of the municipalities using the town or city title.
