"Sittin' in My Car" is the second single released from Slick Rick's third album, ''Behind Bars (Slick Rick album), Behind Bars''. It was released on February 14, 1995 and was produced by Vance Wright, with a remix done by Jermaine Dupri and beatboxing done by Doug E. Fresh. The single managed to make it to #56 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot R&B Singles and #11 on the Hot Rap Singles. The song title and chorus references the singer Billy Stewart's single "Sitting in the Park (song), Sitting in the Park" and also samples the song. Richard Martin Lloyd Walters (born January 14, 1965), better known as Slick Rick, is an English-American rapper and record producer. He rose to prominence with Doug E. Fresh & the Get Fresh Crew in the mid-1980s. Their songs " The Show" and "La Di Da Di" are considered early hip hop classics. "La Di Da Di" is one of the most sampled songs in history. In 1986, Slick Rick became the third artist signed to Def Jam Records. William Larry Stewart II (March 24, 1937 – January 17, 1970) was an American rhythm and blues singer and pianist who was popular during the 1960s. Biography Stewart was 12 years old when he began singing with his younger brothers Johnny, James, and Frank as the Four Stewart Brothers, and they later went on to get their own radio show every Sunday for five years at WUST in Washington, D.C. He was a graduate of Armstrong High School, now Friendship Armstrong Academy. Stewart made the transition to secular music by filling in occasionally for the Rainbows, a D.C. area vocal group led by the future soul star, Don Covay. Jermaine Dupri Mauldin (born September 23, 1972) is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, record executive, entrepreneur, and DJ. Early life Jermaine Dupri Mauldin was born on September 23, 1972, the son of Tina (Mosley) and Michael Mauldin, a Columbia Records executive. Dupri's promising musical career began before he was even 10 years old. "Behind Bars" is the first single released from Slick Rick's third album, '' Behind Bars''. It was released on November 8, 1994 . The original version was produced by Prince Paul, but was scrapped for the album and single in favor of remixes by The Epitome of Scratch and Warren G. The single was released while Rick was still in jail and featured an entirely animated music video for the remix that was produced by Warren G (who also contributed a verse on one of his mixes); the music video was animated and directed by Sash Andranikian.
