Sitka Center For Art And Ecology
The Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, located in Otis, Oregon, United States, was established in 1970 as an entity of the Neskowin Coast Foundation, which was founded May 8, 1970. The Sitka Center was established to expand the relationships between art, ecology, and humanity. The center offers workshops in writing, art, environmental studies and other avenues of creative inquiry, in a cluster of classrooms and studios within view of the Pacific Ocean. Robin Duncan Cody is an American writer from Oregon. His works include fiction and non-fiction books about nature. Biography Robin Cody was born in St. Helens, Oregon. When he was five, his family moved to Estacada, Oregon when his father, Robert Edward Cody, was hired as the grade school principal there. The Codys remained in Estacada for nearly 50 years. Cody graduated from Yale University, taught in the American School of Paris, France, and was the Dean of Admissions for Reed College. In 1984 he became a writer with '' The Oregonian'' and one of his stories won the Western Writers of America’s Silver Spur Award for short non-fiction in 1986. Cody joined the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) as a freelance writer for a time. Neskowin is an unincorporated community in Tillamook County, Oregon, United States, along the Pacific Ocean between Cascade Head and Nestucca Bay. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined Neskowin as a census-designated place (CDP). Kim Stafford
Kim Robert Stafford (born October 15, 1949) is an American poet and essayist who lives in Portland, Oregon. Early life and education Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Stafford is the son of poet William Stafford. He earned a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts in English, and Ph.D. in medieval literature from the University of Oregon. Career Since 1979, he has taught writing at Lewis & Clark College in Portland. He has also taught courses at Willamette University in Salem, at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, at the Fishtrap writers' gathering, and private workshops in Scotland, Italy, and Bhutan. Robert Michael Pyle (born 19 July 1947) is an American lepidopterist, writer, teacher, and founder of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation. Much of his life story is told in the 2020 feature film ''The Dark Divide'', where Pyle is played by David Cross. Early life and education Pyle grew up in Denver and Aurora, Colorado, and took all of his early education in Aurora Public Schools, graduating in 1965.
