Sirgio Kammies
Sirgio Kammies (born 7 February 1998) is a South African soccer player who plays as a defender for Chippa United in the Premier Soccer League. Kammies was born in Elsie's River and joined the Ajax Cape Town academy. He was selected to represent South Africa U20 in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, as a replacement for unavailable Reeve Frosler. Kammies was then supposed to play the 2017 COSAFA U-20 Cup as well, but Ajax Cape Town declined to release him for international duty as he instead made his Premier Division debut in December 2017. Kammies later played for Cape Umoya United before that club was sold to Venda, and he instead joined Cape Town All Stars. He was brought to Chippa United in the summer of 2022 as a part of a large influx of new players, with 16 signings being announced together. Elsie's River
Elsie's River (Elsiesrivier in Afrikaans) is a suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. History Elsies River was probably named after Elsje van Suurwaarde who farmed in the area in 1698. Baptized on 8 October 1662 in the Cape of Good Hope, Elsje was a matriarch who outlived her husbands and worked the land until she died. After her death, her farm passed through the hands of many landowners. In the mid, to late 1800s Elsies River operated as a halt. The Transatlantic Rail from Cape Town Central had a major stop at Elsies River Station. People with wagons from surrounding areas would gather to meet the train at the halt (hence the name Halt Road still today). There was ample water in the Elsies Kraal River to quench thirsty horses and the Arcadia Coffee House served much-needed refreshments for tired travellers. Bafana Bafana
The South Africa national soccer team represents South Africa in men's international soccer and it is run by the South African Football Association, the governing body for Soccer in South Africa. The team's nickname is Bafana Bafana (The Boys/Go boys go boys), and South Africa's home ground is FNB Stadium, which is located in Johannesburg. The team's greatest result was winning the Africa Cup of Nations at home in 1996. The team is a member of both FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF).
