The Inglis Sires', registered as the Sires Produce Stakes, is an Australian Turf Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race for two-year-olds at Set Weights run over a distance of 1,400 metres at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, Australia in April during the ATC Championships Carnival. The prize money is $1,000,000. History The race was first run over one mile in 1867 and won by Glencoe. The race between 1905 and 1908 was run over 6 furlongs. This race forms the middle leg of the Australian two-year-old "Triple Crown", which also consists of the Golden Slipper Stakes (1,200m) and the Champagne Stakes (1,600m). Anamoe
Anamoe (foaled 16 November 2018) is a nine-time Group 1 winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse. Background A homebred for Godolphin, Anamoe is a half-brother to Irish stakes-winner Anamba and is out of the 2007 Australasian Oaks winner Anamato. Racing career 2020/21: two-year-old season Anamoe finished fifth in his race debut in the Listed Debutant Stakes at Caulfield in October 2020, before opening his account in the Listed Merson Cooper Stakes at Sandown a month later. Winning jockey Damien Oliver said after the win, "That was a nice effort. He's a nice horse with ability". After a third placing in the Blue Diamond Stakes, Anamoe travelled to Sydney and won the Todman Stakes. Young Idea (horse)
Young Idea was a brown Australian thoroughbred stallion who raced for five seasons from a two-year-old to a six-year-old, recording major wins in Sydney and Melbourne from 6 furlongs to 1¼ miles. Breeding Young Idea was bred by Percy Miller Kia Ora Stud Scone and was sold for 500 guineas to owner A.G. Hunter. Percy Miller later purchased a half share after the sale and in 1936 purchased A.G.Hunter's half share holding when transferred to trainer Jack Holt and retired to Kia Ora Stud in 1939. Sire Constant Son (GB) sire of 10 stakeswinners began stud duty in Australia in 1930 as a two-year-old won the Arlington Stakes at Newmarket and later the Derby Gold Cup 1¾ miles. Ajax II
Ajax was a champion Australian bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire, who won 18 consecutive races before he was defeated at the odds of 40/1 on, causing a huge racing sensation. He had wins from 5 furlongs (1,000 metres) to 1½ miles (2,400 metres), equalled the Australasian record for a mile (1,600 metres), and created three new race records. At stud in Australia, Ajax proved to be a good sire. He was then sold as a 14-year-old horse and exported to the United States before he was later sold to Bing Crosby and Lin Howard. Ajax was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2004. Breeding Ajax was a chestnut colt bred by Alfred Thompson and E.L. Shannon (horse)
Shannon (1941–1955), named Shannon II in America, was an outstanding Australian Thoroughbred racehorse who was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He created new racecourse records in Australia before he was sold to an American buyer who exported him to California in 1948. There Shannon equalled the world record of 1:47 for the nine furlongs (1,800 metres) in winning the Forty Niner Handicap Stakes, then one week later equalled the world record of 1:59 for a mile and a quarter (2,000 metres). Shannon was named the 1948 American Champion Older Male Horse. At stud in America he proved to be a good sire. Tulloch (horse)
Tulloch (foaled in New Zealand in 1954 and died in 1969) was a champion Australian Thoroughbred racehorse who was one of the greatest Australian stayers. He won at distances from 5 furlongs (1,000 metres) to 2 miles (3,200 m), established Australian records at 10 furlongs (1960 Cox Plate) and 12 furlongs (1957 Caulfield Cup), and took 2 seconds off Phar Lap's 28-year-old record for the AJC Derby. As a three-year-old Tulloch won 14 of his 16 starts before he was struck down by a virus which kept him off the racing scene for almost two years. He returned to racing as an autumn five-year-old and won 15 of his last 24 races. Wenona Girl (foaled 1957) was a leading Australian Thoroughbred horse racemare that had 27 wins over distances ranging from 4½ furlongs to 1½ miles. She won 22 principal races, 15 of which were later designated group one (G1) races. Luskin Star (1974-2002) was a Thoroughbred racehorse and winner of the Australian two-year-old Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. Breeding The colt by Kaoru Star out of Promising (NZ) was consigned to the 1976 Sydney Easter Yearling Sales as Lot 734, but was passed in for $6,500 with a reserve of $8,000. He was later purchased by Newcastle trainer Max Lees for stable clients Mr and Mrs John Balcomb, Don Ninnes and Barry Barnett. His sire Kaoru Star was a son of Star Kingdom and grandson of Hyperion. Octagonal (8 October 1992 – 15 October 2016) was a champion New Zealand-bred, Australian raced Thoroughbred racehorse, also known as 'The Big O' or 'Occy'. He was by the champion sire Zabeel, out of the champion broodmare Eight Carat, who also produced Group One winners Mouawad, Kaapstad, Diamond Lover and (Our) Marquise.
