Sir William Dunn, 1st Baronet, Of Clitheroe
Sir William Henry Dunn, 1st Baronet (8 October 1856 – 12 June 1926) was a British Conservative Party politician and 589th Lord Mayor of London. Dunn was born in Clitheroe, in Lancashire. He was married to Ellen Pawle in 1885 and they had one son and a daughter. By profession he was an auctioneer and surveyor, a Fellow of the Surveyors' Institution. He was a well-known figure in the business and civic life of the City of London. He was an Alderman of the City of London and Sheriff in 1906–1907. Edward Anthony Strauss (7 December 1862 – 25 March 1939) was an English corn, grain and hop merchant of German-Jewish background. He was a Liberal, later Liberal National Member of Parliament. Two sheriffs are elected annually for the City of London by the Liverymen of the City livery companies. Today's sheriffs have only nominal duties, but the historical officeholders had important judicial responsibilities. Dunn Baronets
There have been three creations of ''baronetcies'' for people with the surname Dunn; all three were in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. The first was settled on William Dunn, of The Retreat in the Parish of Lakenheath in the County of Suffolk on 29 July 1895, after whom the Sir William Dunn Professor of Biochemistry and the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology at Oxford University are named. This creation became extinct upon his death in 1912. A second creation was made on 25 June 1917 for Sir William Henry Dunn, of Clitheroe in the County Palatine of Lancaster, Lord Mayor of London. This creation became extinct upon the death of the second baronet in 1971. Sir Charles Hanson, 1st Baronet
Sir Charles Augustin Hanson, 1st Baronet (1846 – 17 January 1922) of Fowey was a British politician and 590th Lord Mayor of London. He was born in Cornwall to master mariner Joseph Hanson and Mary Ann Hicks and was educated at Fowey School. He emigrated to Canada, where he made his fortune in the lumber business and returned to Cornwall c.1890. Whilst in Canada he married Martha Sabine Applebe, a wealthy Canadian heiress, with whom he had a son and a daughter. On his return he bought a tract of land in Cornwall and built Fowey Hall in 1899. However he spent much of his time in London as a stockbroker. He was pricked High Sheriff of Cornwall for 1907–08. In 1908 he was awarded the Cross of Knight of the Order of Francis Joseph, which was conferred on him by the Emperor of Austria for services rendered.
