Sir Donough O'Brien, 1st Baronet
Sir Donough O'Brien, 1st Baronet of Leameneh (1642 – 17 November 1717) was an Irish politician and baronet. He was the son of Conor O'Brien of Leamanah and Máire Rua McMahon. He was the first member of his family to conform to the established church. He was an astute man who avoided declaring for either James II or William III. He was considered by his neighbours, ten years after the surrender of Limerick, as the richest commoner in Ireland. His eldest son Lucius pre-deceased him and he was succeeded in his baronetcy by his grandson Edward O'Brien. Life Donat was born in 1642 to Conor O'Brien of Leamaneh Castle and Máire Rua McMahon, the daughter of Sir Turlough McMahon, Lord of East Corca Baiscin. Dromoland Castle ( ga, Drom Ólainn) is a castle, located near Newmarket-on-Fergus in County Clare, Ireland. Clare was a constituency representing County Clare in the Irish House of Commons, the lower house in the Irish Parliament of the Kingdom of Ireland. Francis Gore (politician)
Francis Gore, (1769 – 3 November 1852) was an English military officer and British colonial administrator in Bermuda and Upper Canada. Gore was born in Blackheath, London, England in 1769 the son of Francis Gore and Caroline Beresford. Francis Gore senior was also a soldier and colonial administrator. Gore Sr became a governor of the West Indies in 1763. He had served in the Portuguese campaign of 1761 as aide-de-camp to Queen Charlotte's brother. Gore was commissioned as an ensign into the 44th Foot in 1787 directly from school at Durham, advancing in 1793 to lieutenant. Gore transferred to the 54th Foot in 1794 and the 17th Light Dragoons in 1795. He retired with the rank of major and became Governor of Bermuda from 1805 to 1806, and then Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada from 1806 to 1811. Sir Henry Ingoldsby, 1st Baronet
Sir Henry Ingoldsby, 1st Baronet (1622–1701) was an English military commander and landowner. He was born in Lethenborough, Buckinghamshire, the 5th son of Sir Richard Ingoldsby and his wife Elizabeth Cromwell. She was the daughter of Sir Oliver Cromwell (died 1655), who was the uncle and godfather of Oliver Cromwell. He had four sisters and seven brothers, including Francis Ingoldsby and the regicide Richard Ingoldsby. He became an officer in the army under King Charles I of England but changed his loyalty to become a colonel in the Parliamentarian army under Oliver Cromwell. He volunteered to join Cromwell in his 1649 Irish campaign and fought under him at Drogheda and under Henry Ireton at Limerick. Sir Joseph Williamson, PRS (25 July 1633 – 3 October 1701) was an English civil servant, diplomat and politician who sat in the House of Commons of England variously between 1665 and 1701 and in the Irish House of Commons between 1692 and 1699. He was Secretary of State for the Northern Department from 1674 to 1679. Early life Williamson was born at Bridekirk, near Cockermouth in Cumberland, where his father, also called Joseph, was vicar. His father died when he was very young, and his mother remarried the Reverend John Ardery. His relatively humble origins were often referred to unkindly in later life by his enemies, especially after he married into the aristocracy. Connor O'Brien, 3rd Earl of Thomond also spelt Conor and called Groibleach, or the "long-nailed", ( ga, Conchobhar Groibleach Ó Briain; 1535–1581) fought his uncle Donnell over his father's succession during thirty years from 1535 to 1565. He was confirmed as 3rd Earl of Thomond in 1558 by the Lord Deputy of Ireland, Thomas Radclyffe, 3rd Earl of Sussex. Conor O'Brien ( ga, Conchubhar Ó Briain) (died 1603) of Leameneagh was an Irish nobleman and land-owner in County Clare. Life He was the son of Donough O'Brien and his wife Slaney McNamara. Hugh Roe O'Donnell raided Thomond in 1599 and again in 1600 to punish the O'Briens for their adherence to the English and to avenge himself on the family of Murrough O'Brien, 4th Baron Inchiquin who, with Donogh O'Brien, 4th Earl of Thomond had invaded Tír Chonaill in 1597 under Sir Conyers Clifford.
