Sir Bernard's Stately Homes
''Sir Bernard's Stately Homes'' is a British TV comedy series first shown in 1999 on BBC Two and later repeated on Play UK. Only six ten-minute programmes were produced, all written by and starring Matt Lucas and David Walliams. It bore many similarities to the more well-known ''Rock Profile''. The series was directed by Edgar Wright, and produced by Myfanwy Moore, who would become the producer of ''Little Britain''. Plot The central character is Bernard Chumley, played by Matt Lucas, who was already a regular stand-up character of Lucas' and would go on to be a fixture of ''Little Britain''. In each edition, Sir Bernard and his friend Anthony Rogers would investigate a number of country estates while searching for the Golden Potato, an advertising stunt which would win them a year's supply of Allen's Crisps ("the cheaper crisp!") Edgar Wright
Edgar Howard Wright (born 18 April 1974) is an English filmmaker. He is known for his fast-paced and kinetic, satirical genre films, which feature extensive utilisation of expressive popular music, Steadicam tracking shots, dolly zooms and a signature editing style that includes transitions, whip pans and wipes. He began making independent short films before making his first feature film ''A Fistful of Fingers'' in 1995. Wright created and directed the comedy series ''Asylum'' in 1996, written with David Walliams. After directing several other television shows, Wright directed the sitcom ''Spaced'' (1999–2001), which aired for two series and starred frequent collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. In 2004, Wright directed the zombie comedy ''Shaun of the Dead,'' starring Pegg and Frost, the first film in Wright's ''Three Flavours Cornetto'' trilogy. ''Grange Hill'' is a British Children's television series, children's television drama series, originally produced by the BBC and portraying life in a typical Comprehensive school (England and Wales), comprehensive school. The show began its run on 8 February 1978 on BBC1, and was one of the longest-running programmes on British television when it ended on 15 September 2008 after 31 series. It was created by Phil Redmond, who is also responsible for the Channel 4 dramas ''Brookside (television programme), Brookside'' and ''Hollyoaks''; other notable production team members down the years have included Television producer, producer Colin Cant and script editor Anthony Minghella. Barry Cryer
Barry Charles Cryer (23 March 1935 – 25 January 2022) was an English writer, comedian, and actor. As well as performing on stage, radio and television, Cryer wrote for many performers including Dave Allen, Stanley Baxter, Jack Benny, Rory Bremner, George Burns, Jasper Carrott, Tommy Cooper, Ronnie Corbett, Les Dawson, Dick Emery, Kenny Everett, Bruce Forsyth, David Frost, Bob Hope, Frankie Howerd, Richard Pryor, Spike Milligan, Mike Yarwood, ''The Two Ronnies'' and Morecambe and Wise. Rhys Thomas (born 12 December 1978) is a British director, producer, actor, comedian and writer. Rowland Rivron
Rowland John Rivron (born 28 September 1958) is a British writer, comedic actor and television personality. Early career Rivron played the comic character "Dr Martin Scrote" on the Jonathan Ross chat show ''The Last Resort'', and also played Scrote on Night Network's ''Bunker Show''. This became a series for Channel 4 called ''Set of Six'' about Scrote and his brothers. In 1989 he and Jools Holland starred in ''The Groovy Fellers''. In the early 1990s he presented his own chat show, ''Rivron'', in which Rivron, his guests and the entire set floated in the River Thames. Paul Putner
Paul Putner (born March 1966) is an English actor and comedian. Life and career Putner was born in March 1966 in East Grinstead, West Sussex. He studied at LAMDA where he won the Kenneth More prize for comedy acting. His first significant TV role saw Putner as numerous characters in ''The Glam Metal Detectives'' shown on BBC2. His real break in comedy came after he set up the club ''The Regency Rooms'' with fellow performers Steve Furst and Oliver Darly. The club developed a cult following and was attended by many comics. ''Jim'll Fix It'' is a British television series broadcast by the BBC between May 1975 and July 1994 and was devised and presented by Jimmy Savile and produced by Roger Ordish. The show encouraged children to write in a letter to Savile with a "wish" that would come true at the end of each episode, upon which the child would be granted a medal. Notable celebrity guests appearing on the show include Muhammad Ali, Tom Baker, and Peter Cushing.
