Sir Arthur Harris, 1st Baronet, Of Stowford
. Sir Arthur Harris, 1st Baronet (c. 1650 – 1686) of Hayne in the parish of Stowford in Devon (about 11 miles south-west of Okehampton), was four-times elected as a Member of Parliament for Okehampton in Devon, between 1671 and 1685. Origins He was the only son and heir of John Harris (c. 1586 – 1657) of Hayne in the parish of Stowford in Devon and of St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall, a Member of Parliament, by his second wife Cordelia Mohun daughter of John Mohun, 1st Baron Mohun of Okehampton. Career He succeeded his father on 6 March 1657. In 1671 he was elected a Member of Parliament for Okehampton. He was created a baronet "of Stowford" on 1 December 1673. He was re-elected MP for Okehampton in the two elections of 1679 and in 1681. Samuel Pepys (; 23 February 1633 – 26 May 1703) was an English diarist and naval administrator. Sir Simon Leach (1567–1638) of the parish of All Hallows, Goldsmith Street, Exeter and of Cadeleigh, Devon, was Sheriff of Devon in 1624. His surviving monument in St Bartholomew's Church, Cadeleigh is the largest of its type in any Devon parish church. Josias II Calmady (10 October 1619 – March 1683) of Langdon, in the parish of Wembury, Devon, was Member of Parliament for Okehampton in the Convention Parliament of 1660. Origins Josias II Calmady was the third son and eventual heir of Sir Shilston I Calmady (1585–1645) by his wife Honora Fortescue, daughter of Edmund Fortescue of Fallapit, East Allington, Devon, and widow of Sir Humphrey Prideaux of Soldon, Holsworthy. Henry Northleigh (1643–1694) of Peamore in the parish of Exminster in Devon, was thrice MP for Okehampton in Devon. Life He was the 2nd but eldest surviving son and heir of Henry Northleigh (1612–1675) of Peamore, Exminster, in Devon by his wife Lettice Yard, a daughter of Edward Yard of Churston Ferrers in Devon. He was educated at King's College, Cambridge from 1660 and entered the Middle Temple in 1663. He served as MP for Okehampton in 1677, as High Sheriff of Devon for 1680–81, and again as MP for Okehampton in 1689 and 1690–1694.
