Goa Legislative Assembly
The Goa Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the state of Goa in India. The Assembly meets at the Goa State Legislative Assembly Complex in Porvorim, Bardez. The Eighth Goa Legislative Assembly consists of 40 members. The assembly is in charge of the budget, the Assembly appropriates money for social programs, agricultural development, infrastructure development, etc. It is also responsible for proposing and levying taxes. History Following the Annexation of Goa, end of Portuguese rule in 1961, Goa was placed under military administration headed by Lieutenant general (India), Lieutenant General Kunhiraman Palat Candeth as Lieutenant-Governor. Goa Suraksha Manch is a political party in Goa a political outfit of the ''Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch'' which was launched by Subhash Velingkar, a rebel Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader. Siolim
Siolim () is a village in Bardez taluka, and a census town on the central west coast of India, in the North Goa district of Goa. The 2001 population was 10,311, and 10,936 in 2011. Siolim is also the name of a constituency in the Goa assembly, which includes Assagao, Anjuna and Oxel, in addition to Siolim. A person from Siolim is known as a ''Siolcar'' or even as ''Shivalkar'' (). Location Siolim is situated about 7 km (4.3 mi) from Mapusa. It is located around the Chapora River. There is a bridge over River Chapora, in place of the prior ferry. To Siolim's north lies the quiet village of Oxel; green hillocks hedge it towards Assagao in the south and the east. Goa Forward Party ( GFP) is a regional political party in the western coastal Indian state of Goa, led by Vijai Sardesai. The GFP fielded four candidates in the 2017 Goa Assembly election and won three seats. Vinoda Datarama Paliencar is an Indian politician and a former cabinet Minister in the Government of Goa. He is also a former Member of the Goa Legislative Assembly representing the Siolim constituency from 2017 to 2022, and belongs to the Goa Forward Party. The Goa legislative assembly election was held on 3 March 2012, to select the 40 members of the Sixth Goa Legislative Assembly, as the term of Sixth Legislative Assembly ended on March 2012.
