What You Get Is What You See
"What You Get Is What You See" is a song by recording artist Tina Turner from her album ''Break Every Rule'' (1986). The 12" single included three versions of the song, the Extended Dance Mix, the Extended Rock Mix and a live version recorded in London in November 1986. A different live recording of the song was later used as the opening track on Turner's 1988 album '' Tina Live in Europe''. She also included it in her 2009 live album ''Tina Live''. It was recorded during Turner's hugely successful 50th Anniversary Tour. The track is from the March 21, 2009 live show at the GelreDome in Arnhem, Netherlands. The music video for the song was directed by Peter Care. Background The song was written by the Terry Britten and Graham Lyle team and was notably different from the three previous singles that they had written for Turner, "What's Love Got to Do with It", "We Don't Need Another Hero" and " Two People", as it was an up-tempo country-tinged rock track. "Steamy Windows" is a song by American-Swiss singer Tina Turner. It was included on Turner's seventh studio album, ''Foreign Affair'' (1989), and released as the album's second single in November 1989. In the United Kingdom, it was instead issued as the third single on February 5, 1990. It was written by Tony Joe White and produced by Dan Hartman. It became a top ten hit in Belgium, Ireland and Italy, while reaching the top forty on the majority of all charts it appeared on. Turner performed the song as the opening number during her 1990, 1993 and 2008/2009 concert tours. Critical reception Greg Kot from ''Chicago Tribune'' noted that "Steamy Windows" begins with some of Tony Joe White's trademark "Polk Salad Annie" guitar, "a funky, gut-bucket sound that is further enhanced by some back-porch harmonica fills. It's the perfect atmosphere for Turner, a rural Tennessee native, to dig deep into her back-roads Southern past and sing about back-seat affairs." Pan-European magazine '' ...

"Private Dancer" is a song made famous in 1984 by American singer Tina Turner. First recorded by British rock band Dire Straits, it was written by the group's lead vocalist Mark Knopfler and produced by John Carter for Turner's fifth solo album of the same name. Released as the album's fifth single, the track reached number seven on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number three on the US R&B chart. The song had moderate international success, reaching number 26 on the UK Singles Chart. Background The song was intended for Dire Straits' fourth album ''Love over Gold''. The instruments were recorded, but Mark Knopfler considered the lyrics unsuitable for a male singer, so the track was dropped from the project. Legal restrictions prevented the original recording being used by Tina Turner, so two years later it was remade by members of Dire Straits. Terry Williams replaced the original drummer Pick Withers. I Can't Stand The Rain (song)
"I Can't Stand the Rain" is a song originally recorded by Ann Peebles in 1973, and written by Peebles, Don Bryant, and Bernard "Bernie" Miller. Other hit versions were later recorded by Eruption, Tina Turner and Lowell George. The original version is ranked at 197 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Ann Peebles version The song was written by Peebles, her partner (and later husband) Don Bryant, and DJ Bernard "Bernie" Miller in 1973:One evening in Memphis in 1973, soul singer Ann Peebles was meeting friends, including her partner, Hi Records staff writer Don Bryant, to go to a concert. Just as they were about to set off, the heavens opened and Peebles snapped: "I can't stand the rain." As a professional songwriter in constant need of new material, Bryant was used to plucking resonant phrases out of the air and he liked the idea of reacting against recent R&B hits that celebrated bad weather, such as the Dramatics' "In the Rain" and Love Unlimited's " Walkin' in t ...
