Simona Muccioli
Simona Muccioli (born March 15, 1984) is an Olympic swimmer from San Marino. She has swum for San Marino at the Olympics (2008 File:2008 Events Collage.png, From left, clockwise: Lehman Brothers went bankrupt following the Subprime mortgage crisis; Cyclone Nargis killed more than 138,000 in Myanmar; A scene from the opening ceremony of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing; ...), World Championships (2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011) and Mediterranean Games (2005), and other international meets. As of August 2013, she holds the long course San Marino Records in 10 events (400, 800, 1500 and 5,000 frees; 50, 100, 200 flies; and 200 and 400 IM). At the 2008 Olympics, she swam in the first heat of the Women's 100 Butterfly, finishing in 1:04.91 for last place overall. Butterfly (stroke)
The butterfly (colloquially shortened to fly) is a swimming stroke swum on the chest, with both arms moving symmetrically, accompanied by the butterfly kick (also known as the "dolphin kick"). While other styles like the breaststroke, front crawl, or backstroke can be swum adequately by beginners, the butterfly is a more difficult stroke that requires good technique as well as strong muscles. It is the newest swimming style swum in competition, first swum in 1933 and originating out of the breaststroke. Speed and ergonomics The peak speed of the butterfly is faster than that of the front crawl due to the synchronous pull/push with both arms and legs, which is done quickly. Yet since speed drops significantly during the recovery phase, it is overall slightly slower than front crawl, especially over longer distances.
