Simon Hobbs
Simon Hobbs is a British-born journalist who became an American citizen in 2018. He worked for business news channel CNBC for 18 years, first in London and then at the New York Stock Exchange and for five years he was a co-anchor of the 10am hour of ''Squawk on the Street'' until his departure from CNBC in July 2016. He currently lives in Los Angeles, freelancing and hosting conferences. Biography Hobbs is best known for working for CNBC, and was with the channel from 1998 to 2016. Before joining CNBC he worked for LBC news radio in the UK for 8 years, rising from reporter to executive producer, with stints at BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 1's ''Newsbeat''. ''Europe Tonight'' is an evening television business news programme which was broadcast on CNBC Europe from 2004 to 2009. The programme was most recently presented by Guy Johnson and Anna Edwards. History The original ''Europe Tonight'' was a 30-minute market review broadcast on weekdays at 6:30pm CET until 2001. The programme was relaunched in September 2004, and replaced '' Frankfurt Closing Bell'', which was shown at 8pm CET and co-presented from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by Silvia Wadhwa and by Simon Hobbs in London. Timothy Donald Cook (born November 1, 1960) is an American business executive who has been the chief executive officer of Apple Inc. since 2011. Outing
Outing is the act of disclosing an LGBT person's sexual orientation or gender identity without that person's consent. It is often done for political reasons, either to instrumentalize homophobia in order to discredit political opponents or to combat homophobia and heterosexism by revealing that a prominent or respected individual is homosexual. Examples of outing in history include the Krupp affair, Eulenburg affair, and Röhm scandal. The ethics of outing are highly contested as it can often have a negative effect on the target's personal life or career. Some LGBT activists argue that gay individuals who oppose LGBT rights do not enjoy a right to privacy because of their perceived hypocrisy. Questions for the Future is a debate television series aired periodically on financial news channels CNBC Europe, CNBC Asia and CNBC World in the US, currently focusing on the subject of energy. The programmes are produced in association with Shell, which advertises before, during and after each edition, although the company states that CNBC retains full editorial control over their content. Each episode is recorded in a different location around the world, normally with some connection to the topic of discussion. The debate is initially held among a panel of experts, before being opened up to the studio audience. Guy Johnson (journalist)
Guy Johnson ( 1740 – 5 March 1788) was an Irish military officer and diplomat. He served on the side of the British during the Revolutionary War, having migrated to the Province of New York as a young man and worked with his uncle, Sir William Johnson who served as the British Superintendent of Indian Affairs of the northern colonies. Guy was appointed as William's successor in 1774. The following year, Johnson relocated with Loyalist supporters to Canada as tensions rose in New York during the American Revolution. He directed joint militia and Mohawk military actions in the Mohawk Valley. Accused of falsifying reports, he went to London to defend himself after the war, and died there in 1788. ''European Closing Bell'' (prior to June 2003 known as ''European Market Wrap'') is a television programme aired on business news channel CNBC Europe from 5pm to 6pm CET (4pm to 5pm WET), and from 11am to 12pm on CNBC World in the United States. The programme was presented from London by Louisa Bojesen. The show covered the last half-hour of trades in the European equity markets, and reported on the day's final numbers and top stories as the markets close at 5:30pm CET. ''Squawk on the Street'', which debuted on December 19, 2005, is a business show on CNBC that follows the first 90 minutes of trading on Wall Street in the United States. Originally airing as a one-hour program, the show doubled its airtime to two hours on July 19, 2007 (due in part to Liz Claman's departure from the network).
