Simbirsk Chuvash teacher's school (russian: Симбирская чувашская учительская школа, cv, Чӗмпӗрти чӑваш вӗрентӳҫиҫен шкулӗ) is the training center for the creative intelligentsia of the Chuvash and other peoples of the Volga region. Center founded educator of Chuvash people I. Y. Yakovlev, October 28, 1868 in Simbirsk, the administrative center of the homonymous province. Chuvash People
The Chuvash people ( , ; cv, чӑваш ; russian: чуваши ) are a Turkic ethnic group, a branch of Oghurs, native to an area stretching from the Volga-Ural region to Siberia. Most of them live in Chuvashia and the surrounding areas, although Chuvash communities may be found throughout the Russian Federation. They speak Chuvash, a unique Turkic language that diverged from other languages in the family more than a millennium ago. Etymology There is no universally accepted etymology of the word ''Chuvash'', but there are three main theories. The popular theory accepted by Chuvash people suggests that ''Chuvash'' is a Shaz-Turkic adaptation of Lir-Turkic ''Suvar'' (Sabir people), an ethnonym of people that are widely considered to be the ancestors of modern Chuvash people. Ivan Yakovlev (educator)
Ivan Yakovlevich Yakovlev (russian: Иван Яковлевич Яковлев) (, a village of Koshki-Novotimbaeyvo, today's Tatarstan - October 23, 1930, Moscow) was a Chuvash enlightener, educator, and writer. In 1875, Ivan Yakovlev was graduated from the Kazan University. While he was still a gymnasium student, he invested his own capital and private donations into the establishment of Simbirsk Chuvash School in 1868. Thanks to the efforts of Ilya Ulyanov (Vladimir Lenin's father), this school would be funded by the government starting 1871. In 1877, the school was transformed into Simbirsk Central Chuvash School. After his graduation from the university, Ivan Yakovlev worked as an inspector of Chuvash schools in the Kazan School District (until 1903) and headed the Chuvash School for Teachers (until October 1919). Nikolai Yakovlevich Yut ( cv, Николай Ют, ''Nikolay Yut''; russian: Николай Яковлевич Ют; July 30, 1898 – March 27, 1967) was a Chuvash writer, folklorist and literary critic. He became a member of the USSR Union of Writers in 1934. He was the cousin of the Chuvash writer and literature critic Arcady Aris. Arcady Ivanovich Aris ( cv, Аркадий Иванович Арис; January 29, 1901 – June 1, 1942) was a Chuvash writer and literary critic. He became a member of the USSR Union of Writers in 1934. He was a cousin of the Chuvash folklorist Nikolai Yut. Biography Arkady Zolotov was born in the village of Siner, Kazan Governorate, Russian Empire on January 29, 1901. After graduating from the Alikovskaya two-year school, in 1915 he entered the Simbirsk Chuvash school to study. Here he first became acquainted with the works of K. V. Ivanov, T. S. Konstantin Vasilyevich Ivanov (, ; – ) was a Chuvash poet and important figure in Chuvash literature. Biography Konstantin Vasilyevich Ivanov was born in a peasant Chuvash family. Many of his relatives, who valued education, were literate, something unusual for the time. Ivanov's father was one of the richest people in the village and he ran a successful farm using his knowledge of agronomy and economics. Ivanov joined his village's primary school when he was eight years old. He finished in 1902 and moved to Belebey City School for further studies, where he took a preparatory class at Simbirsk Chuvash Teacher's School.
